Everyone knows Jackie Kennedy, the famous first lady to John Kennedy, whom she married in 1953. Jackie was famous for her iconic outfits; from monochrome pastel looks to embellished ensembles, she had great style that influenced the future trends of the fashion houses we all know and love today.

Let’s go through some of her most iconic looks in honor of the movie that just came out, Jackie.

Here she is pictured wearing the iconic pink Chanel suit that she wore on the day of President Kennedy’s assassination. This is one of her most famous looks.

Here she is wearing her signature pillbox hat in Paris, 1961. She wore many outfits with pastel color palettes and also favored A-line silhouettes.

Here she is pictured on a state visit to India in 1962, once again keeping in the pastel color palette. Another common theme you will see throughout her looks are pearls, as they are a classic addition to any outfit.

Jackie had such iconic style because the cuts and materials of her clothes were so simple yet so elegant. The outfits look effortless and chic while still maintaining a level of couture so many people try to accomplish in their daily lives.

She also knew how to accessorize. For example, below she is wearing oversized sunglasses that add an element of glam to the outfit without being over the top. The camel accents of the scarf she added stays in the color family but gives some separation because it is not too ‘matchy-matchy’ as it incorporates some cream and black as well which highlight her hair and nude lip look.

You can see these types of sunglasses today with similar styles being found in the collections of Dior, Givenchy, and Tom Ford. The camel overcoat is, of course, a classic.

Rest in peace, Jackie. May your style live on forever in the name of couture.
