The approach of spring weather means it’s time to dig through the closet for those floral prints and shorts that have been pushed to the back during the freezing months (or one month…) of New England winter. As exciting as the thought of not needing that heavy peacoat is, every girl seems to have at least one winter item that she finds hard to let go of as the temperature rises. Fortunately, there are still ways to incorporate winter pieces into spring outfits by simply making a few adjustments.
For those who can’t unwrap that scarf…
You don’t have to let go of that patterned scarf you finally got around to buying. Rather than looping it tightly to keep your neck safe from the wind and snow, wrap it around your neck loosely to complete your latest spring outfit. When styled differently, this winter necessity can become the perfect spring accessory.
For those who can’t stow away the military boots…
Military boots were flying out of the stores during winter and people still cannot seem to get enough of them. If you’re one of those girls, pair the boots with colorful tights in the spring. Top it off with a floral piece to add a girly and spring touch to the winter footwear. With a choice of a top, you can wear a light cardigan to stay warm in the chilly weather.
For those who can’t part with their thicker tights…
Keep the tights, but change the top. Pull out your favorite summer dress to wear over the tights, patterned or solid. New England spring isn’t exactly the warmest of weathers. On the rainy or chillier days, wear your cute denim shorts with your tights. This way, you get to keep wearing your favorite comfy tights while remembering it is getting warmer outside.
For those who can’t stop snuggling in their cable knit sweaters…
Remove the layers and layers of shirts you wore to try and stay warm in the winter. As spring rolls around, the numerous layers are unnecessary. Instead, cover your arms and shoulders with your favorite cable knit sweater while sporting a tank top or short-sleeved shirt underneath, paired with a pair of jeans. One option to make the casual outfit a bit dressier is to wrap a belt around your waist, over the sweater. You’ll be ready for spring with this, especially since it doesn’t get much warmer until later.
