Dear Class of 2018 (or 2017 if you’re original and doing only 4 years),

Welcome to Northeastern! Let’s face it, you’ve chosen one of the best schools in Boston to attend. We might not be up there with the Ivies, but we have co-ops, dialogues, a beautiful campus, and an awesome location in the city. So, congrats on being here and get ready for some amazing years. On behalf of Her Campus NU, we’d like to wish you the best as you stumble out of your first parties, run across campus to your 8ams and Snell it up, all until you cry when you realize five years have gone by as you’re handed that expensive diploma.

As Northeastern’s online magazine, we’re here for you during all those times. When it’s co-op season, we’ll help you pick out the best outfit and arm with you stellar interview tips. And if you don’t land that dream co-op, don’t worry – we’re here for you too. From the best and worst classes, to living with your roommates, to making the best out of Boston, we have all the tips you need to make the best transition to college life.

We won’t lie to you, it won’t always be the best time of your life. As freshmen, we’re told that the parties will be unbelievable and the dating will be like in the movies. No one tells you you’ll miss home. Your heart might get broken. You will have roommate spats. At times, your classes will make you want to pull your hair out and you may want to cry in a tiny corner of Snell. Freshmen year can be tough and no one tells you it’s ok to feel that way. You may think you don’t fit in, that you’re lost among a sea of other froshies. You’ll start to rethink your life, question your decisions, and long for the easy high school days. We’ll always be here to tell you all of that is ok! You might change your major but you’ll find the one you know makes you happy. You might lose some friends and make others. You might miss sleep but the next night you celebrate your good grades. We won’t tell you it’s easy, but hopefully we can help you along the way. Welcome to Northeastern, we hope you’ll love it as much as we do!
