Boston Restaurant Week 2013

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

If there’s one aspect of being a college student that I can truly identify with, it’s that I’m constantly hungry. In addition, I never have enough money to eat what I actually want. Steak? Can’t recall the taste. Milk? I’ll buy it at Wollastons maybe once a month. Needless to say, when Restaurant Week rolls around in Boston, I’m pretty excited.

Featuring over 200 restaurants located in and around Boston, Restaurant Week offers poor college students like me the chance to wine and dine like kings and queens. During March 17-22 & 24-29, participating restaurants offer a condensed menu that consists of either two or three courses for a light lunch, regular lunch or dinner, all for a discounted price. The menus for each restaurant are predetermined and can be found here. The price bracket for all restaurants, unless otherwise specified, is as follows:

2 course light lunch for $15.13

3 course lunch for $20.13

3 course dinner for $38.13

While some of you may think that these prices are a little steep for your budget, rest assured that these restaurants are all well worth your money. I’m talking about elegant and upscale dining experiences that serve five-star food. These restaurants not only offer amazing food but also beautiful dining halls in luxurious buildings in Boston. You walk by these expensive restaurants all semester and now, because of Restaurant Week, you have the chance to experience them.

If you’re worried that your picky taste buds may prevent you from taking advantage of this great opportunity, have no fear. Literally every type of food is represented during Restaurant Week. Just a few examples of the types of cuisine offered: American, Asian, Barbecue, Comfort Food, Contemporary American, Fondue, French, Fusion, Indian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Seafood, Spanish, Steak, Sushi and Tapas. If you’re planning to choose a restaurant based on the food type, let me clarify: over a dozen restaurants are represented in each food category, giving you multiple options to choose from.

Here’s a small preview of a few of my favorite restaurants included in Boston Restaurant Week this year. Enjoy!
