The Best (Free) Instagram Story Editing Apps

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

Let’s get straight to the point: everyone wants that picture-perfect, aesthetic Instagram feed, complete with cute story highlights and respective covers. And we all want cute designs to complement the aesthetic photos we take. Look no further because, with hundreds of free templates to choose from, these three free Instagram story editing apps make any story look cute!

StoryArt

This app is by far my favorite and the one I turn to every time I want to post an aesthetic picture. Whether it be a family group picture, a friend’s birthday, or a scenic shot of Boston’s beautiful skyline, this app has the best story templates to spice up my feed. StoryArt also has cute templates for highlight covers and is my go-to for a cute new style! And all of this for the low price of $0! Check out some of my favorites below:

Ash

Another free app that’s gained popularity in recent weeks is Ash. I remember seeing an ad for the app on Snapchat and it had the cutest logo with the most stylish templates. The ad’s background music was so catchy as well (I know this sounds sponsored, but I just really like this app!). When I downloaded it, I was so surprised! It’s so easy to work with, very customizable, and has tons of fonts to choose from! Though it was very hard to pick which ones to feature, I’ve included some of my favorite fun and playful templates below!

StoryChic

Last but not least, StoryChic is another must-have app on my phone! This app has several types of story templates – with music, animated, and static. It does offer a paid subscription, but the free version of this app is just as Instagram-worthy! I love using StoryChic because it’s so well organized. It has various categories like Food Blog, Style, Beach, Summer, Party, and more! Take a look at my top faves from this app:

So next time you take that cute sunset picture or post a Happy Father’s Day post, browse through the hundreds of free templates available on these apps and make your Instagram feed the prettiest it has ever been!
