9 Things To Remember When Going On Co-op Interviews

So it’s finally that time of the semester. Your class schedule just got super intense. You have midterms to worry about. To top it all off, you have an endless number of interviews. Even though we all went through the intensive one credit co-op class, here are a few points to remember as you make your way to each interview.

 

  1. Research the company.

Even though Google should be everyone’s best friend by now, ask around. Get your advisor to connect you with students that co-oped with each company in the past to get a better idea of what it’s actually like.

 

2. Be mindful of what you wear.

Make use of resources such a Pinterest and Youtube to get a better idea of how to dress for interviews. Work it girl!

 

3. Eye contact and composure.

This is critical! As a society, we’re taught to distrust someone who looks away while answering a question. Making eye contact and maintaining good composure conveys confidence and, in most cases, honesty.

 

4. Don’t oversell yourself.Don’t play yourself. If all goes well, you’ll end up with this company for the next 6 months; and you’re going to have to live up to their expectations. Be honest and let your true self shine.

 

5. Practice your answers and ASK questions.

Remember that this is a time for you to interview the company as well! Take advantage of your opportunity.

 

6. Be courteous.

Always remember to thank the interviewers. They took the time out of their day to sit with you.
