5 Must-Do Activities in Massachusetts This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

There are an abundance of activities to do this fall. However, if you are feeling a little stuck, here are some ideas try out anytime you want to make the most of the season, or if you just have some free time!

Travel to Boston Hill Farm (open daily until October 31)

Located in North Andover, Massachusetts, Boston Hill Farm is surely a great place to spend a crisp fall day. This twelve generation family-owned farm hosts fall festivals every weekend until the end of October. Activities range from apple and pumpkin picking to enjoying live music while eating delicious apple cider donuts — there’s even a petting zoo!

Visit Davis Corn Maze (open Friday-Sunday, October 4-27)

For a mere $19.95, you can take advantage of this mega maze at Davis Farmland. It’s hard not to enjoy the ziplining, pumpkins, food and, of course, the maze, all while listening to live music. So go grab some friends and get lost in Sterling, Massachusetts before it’s too late!

Take a Day Trip to Salem (October 1-31)

Sometimes it can be nice to just escape the big city for a bit and travel to one of the most notable places in Massachusetts, known for its spooky history of the Salem Witch Trials. Go check out the historic museums, famous House of the Seven Gables, delicious food spots and several other pretty sites around this eerie town.

Book a Fall Foliage Cruise

What better way is there to view the beautiful foliage this year in Boston than from a cruise on the Boston Harbor? While onboard, you’ll experience waterfront views from a whole new angle, passing by lighthouses and little harbor islands along the way.

Explore Boston and Take a Walk Down Mass. Ave

Mid-October is the best time of year to go out and experience the fall in full force around Boston. If taking a day trip to Salem or another neighboring town seems like too much, simply take a stroll down the street and enjoy the autumn colors. From spots around MIT, Harvard and Northeastern University, it’s almost impossible to miss out on this short season without appreciating the aesthetic views.

Regardless of where you’re from, there are plenty of fun opportunities Massachusetts offers in its chilly transition to autumn.
