10 Thoughts You Have When Your West Coast Friends Complain About The Snow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

I come from a small town in rural mid-eastern Maine. No explanation needed, I know snow. From the beginning of November until the end of April, I can usually expect the ground to be covered with at least one foot of snow and the temperature to be uncomfortable, to say the least. Snow is just one of those things that I have known my whole life.

However, that is not true for everyone. Here are some of the thoughts I have when my west coast friends complain about the snow:

1. “Yes, I understand that it’s cold!”

There’s this thing called layering. You should try it!

2. “I wonder if Californians learn about snow in school…”

3.  “This is only a light dusting…”

Wait until the REAL snow starts.

4. “If you are so worried about the snow, why did you come to the East Coast for school?”

5. “WHERE IS YOUR HAT?”

Don’t tell me you’re cold and then not wear a hat!

6. “No, you won’t get hurt if you fall in the snow.”

Ice, however, is a different story.

7. “Actually, 30º weather is warm!”

8. “Are you seriously taking another photo of the snow?”

I get it. It’s beautiful. Try shoveling yourself out of your driveway. How pretty do you think it is now?

9. “You think this is bad? Just wait until it’s 0º out and there’s two feet of snow on the ground.”

10. “Learn to love it, sister, because you’re stuck with it for the next 4 years!”
