Early Frights and Delights for the Spooky Season: Las Cruces & El Paso

Halloween is on the horizon, and if you’re anything like me you’ll want to get into the spooky spirt early. So, what better way then exploring all the local frights and delights. Here are five Halloween events happening in Las Cruces and El Paso! 

  1. Mesilla Valley Maze- Las Cruces

Let’s start with a local fall classic! The Mesilla Valley Maze is New Mexico’s original corn maze and pumpkin patch. You can enjoy numerous fall activities: hayrides, pumpkin picking, face painting, devouring yummy treats, and more! Don’t forget the 5-acre Giant Corn Maze. The maze is located at 3855 W Picacho Ave. and admission is $12. The 2019 Season will continue through October 27th and the maze will be open on Saturdays & Sundays from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. 

 

2. Paint Nite: Halloween Hats- Las Cruces

The Bean Café in Las Cruces will be having a Halloween Hat Paint Night, so you can unleash your inner witchy artist. The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13th at 2:00 p.m. This is a spooky paper mâché hat project. Participants will be decorating and painting a nine-inch Halloween hat. The event is $40 per person and tickets are available at  https://www.yaymaker.com/buy/10196673. Get ready to create your own Hocus Pocus accessory! 

 

3. Sheriff’s Office 2019 Haunted House- El Paso

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is returning for another fright filled haunted house season. The spooky fun will be held at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters located at 3850 Justice Dr. Opening Weekend is on Oct. 11 – 13th. The haunted house will be open Oct. 17 – 20th and the 24 – 31st; Fridays & Saturdays from 7 p.m.to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, and you can save some coin ($1 off) if you bring a can food donation. Proceeds will go to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office PAWS in Detention Program & the Explorer Post 2005, a non-profit organization. 

 

4. Massacre on Marshall Road: Fort Bliss Haunted House- El Paso

The Fort Bliss’ Haunted House trial of terror is back this year! The haunted house will be open every Friday and Saturday night throughout the month of October from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. As Hallows Eve approaches it will be open from Oct. 28-31st, and on Halloween night the hours will extend till midnight. It’s located at the Fort Bliss Trading Post on 1717 Marshall Rd. Admission is $5 per person. 

 

5. KLAQ Haunted House- El Paso

The annual KLAQ Haunted House has a terrifying theme this year: Carnival Evil. If you rebuke clowns or still get American Horror Story Freak Show flashbacks this haunted house is just for you! This year’s haunted house has moved to a new location on the east side located at 1840 Lee Trevino Ave. Suite 205 and it is indoors. It will be open Oct. 4, 5, 6, 17, 18, 19, 20 and Oct. 24 though Halloween. Doors are open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, and 7 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $20 per person and are available at the door or online. Students can also save some coin on Thursdays ($5 discount) if you show your school ID. On Sundays everyone can get a $5 discount and if you donate blood at a Vitalant blood center, you get a free entrance.
