Leslie Knope is definitely someone we can all look up to. Here’s a few reminders on how to be an upstanding Pawnee citizen.

1. Make time for those closest to you.

Guys and girls will come and go, but your family and close loved ones will always be there for you. It’s important to be there for them too, so don’t forget to give them a call every now and then to catch up on lost time.

2. Confidence is key.

Okay, this is kind of a given, but nowadays it’s super easy to forget your fantastic qualities and everything you bring to the table in your daily life. Give yourself a weekly pep talk to remind youself how awesome you are!

3. But you should also recognize your flaws and learn from your mistakes.

Hey, we’re all human here. Sometimes we make choices that we regret later on… but good news, we can always fix them. The most beneficial thing to do, is to realize we messed up and grow from it. That’s all we can do. What’s done is done, now it’s up to you to decide where to go from there.

4. Be positive.

Things may not always work out the way you want them to but, don’t let that get you down. Know that things will come together in the end, you just have to continue to think positive and keep working toward your goals.

5. Let loose!

You deserve to blow off a little steam after working hard everyday. Whether that be by dancing the night away, hanging out with friends, sleeping, cooking, or any other activity that you find enjoyable, do it! It’s good to find a stress reliever that you actually like doing, so your mind will be able to focus on something else other than deadlines, school, and work.

6. Learn how to say no.

When you have too much on your plate it becomes very easy to get stressed out. Know when to put your foot down and take control of your life. Only you know what you can and cannot handle.

7. It’s okay to be uncertain about your future.

No one ever really knows what they’re going to do in life, and it’s okay if you don’t either. We have so much time to plan out our lives and things can change in an instant, so enjoy what you’re doing now and don’t worry too much about the little things.

8. Follow whatever it is that makes you passionate.

Whenever you’re doing something you love, you are 100 percent more likely to enjoy it. Don’t be scared to follow your heart, even if it’s not something everyone else is doing. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is how you feel and no one else can change that.
