The 7 Stages of Moving Out of College, As Told by GIFs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at New School chapter.

We all know that college move-out season is literally one of the most stressful times of the year. All of your final exams are scheduled for the same week, you have three papers due at the same time, and in between all of that you’re supposed to find time to figure out what size locker to rent at Manhattan Mini Storage. Simply put, the worst.

Trying to find a reliable storage company with significant student discounts.

Having to study for your exams amongst the mess that your dorm room has become.

Being seen dragging two suitcases and a cardboard box across Union Square, because who can even afford Uber anymore.

Being determined to fit every last item into that storage unit, no matter what…

…only to realize your storage unit is too small, so you end up begging your friends who have summer apartments to keep a few things for you.

When everything starts getting cleared out, and you start getting emotional about having to leave the place you’ve called home for nine months.

But then you realize that while moving sucks, it’s a pivotal step that’s getting you closer to all of your goals.
