There are many inspirational publicists to follow on social media that allow people to see into their world. If you chose a major like public relations, following these kinds of people gives you some insight into their lifestyles and a glimpse of the exciting events they attend.

One publicist in particular that puts the entertainment and communications world into an honest perspective is producer and writer, Jaime Primak Sullivan. She creates a digital series of daily conversations by sharing honest and open advice through her morning talk show called #CawfeeTawk. Jaime gives words of wisdom on what it is really like being a publicist and working in the entertainment business.

She does not only speak of the glamour that comes with her career, but speaks of the hard work that goes into it as well, and emphasizes that it is not always as easy as it may seem. She created her own full service public relations, events and branding company and was the star on the show she produced for Bravo, “Jersey Belle”. She is also the editor-in-chief of Good Grit Magazine.

In addition to sharing details of her career, she is extremely relatable to people struggling with all sorts of challenges. Through #CawfeeTawk she speaks about life problems, relationships, and shares stories of the good and bad within her career. Many of these topics pinpoint exact life struggles you may be facing such as the pain you may have from moving on from previous relationships, depression, failed friendships, growing up, confidence struggles, and other topics that college students can relate to.

Some of these videos could even provide comfort, because in college, the work must go on and deadlines must be met regardless of what is going on in your personal life. Sometimes we don’t deal with our own issues and instead throw them to the bottom of our to-do list, which can lead to stressful situations or feeling overwhelmed. These daily conversations help bring clarity and can help start a conversation to take some pressure off of what has been going on in your world.

One of Jaime’s #CawfeeTawk videos speaks directly to anyone just about to graduate from college. This video, “Growing Up and Owning Your ‘Why’” is a great example to listen to if anyone is leaving college and getting ready to step into the real world.

“We’re trained to live our lives in small increments when we’re young; we go to high school for four years and it’s hard for us to see anything outside of those four years. We think whatever is going on in high school is going to last forever–the heartache, the friendships, the homework.  We make one mistake in highschool and think our life is ruined. Then we move on to college and it’s the next four years, the next small installment of our life.  Everything is still very controlled for us, there’s a cafeteria, there’s a certain place to do your laundry and mom and dad are still very integrated into your life.  You have your friends, sororities, and teachers- everything is still very controlled.  Then you graduate from college and you go out into the world, and for the first time in your life, you don’t see a finish line.”

This quote helps put all of the emotions you may feel into a small block of words, even if you could not find these words to express them out loud. In this seven minute video Jaime not only explains the feelings you may go through, but gives advice to take steps and conquer the challenges of the real world. Sometimes just a positive video like this is all a person feeling lost or confused may need to hear during a stressful period.

It’s easy to imagine a false perception of what a career in the communications field consists of, depending on which path someone may take. Jaime makes it clear that there is so much more to it than simply the glamour– it is possible to accomplish your goals if you keep trying and working at them.

Finding a mentor that can keep it real for you as you move on through life,  or just watching and listening to some of these videos could be step in the right direction and help you stay on track. Positivity can always help you get through whatever life throws at you, and that will help you to be the best possible version of yourself.
