15 Facts You May Have Not Known About Sia

1. Before Sia was swinging from the chandelier and wearing wigs that covered half of her face, she was just living her life in Adelaide, Australia, where she was born and raised.

2. Sia’s songs off of her latest album, “This Is Acting” were rejected songs from other big artists. She has been an invisible creative force in the music industry for years creating chart-topping hits as a songwriter.

3. Sia does not like showing her face in the media because she simply does not feel like it! She does not want to be recognized when she goes out in public, or be judged based solely on her appearance. She also sometimes feels shy performing.

4. She has written songs for many artists including Rihanna, Adele, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Flo Rida, Britney Spears, Lea Michele, Ne-Yo, Rita Ora, Madonna, Eminem, Kelly Clarkson and contributed to the FIFA world cup anthem, “Olé Ola.”

5. The song “Titanium” took about a half hour to write and then forty minutes to record the vocals. She also stated in an interview that she wrote Rihanna’s hit song, “Diamonds” in just 14 minutes.

6. Sia provided lead vocals to an electronica British duo known as Zero 7 and a jazz group called Crisp in the 90’s.

7. Sia was first discovered by an Italian DJ while singing karaoke in a bar.

8. Her zodiac sign is a Sagittarius.

9. Sia’s family has a deep history of creative roots with a father who is a musician and mother an art lecturer. One of her uncles also was a band member from the famous 80’s band ‘Men at Work’ who are known for their hit song, “Down Under.”

11. Her creative process involves singing a melody and then shaping words to make them fit. She cannot play the piano or read music. She usually collaborates with instrumentalist Greg Kurstin and songwriter Jesse Shatkin.
