The Three Best Non-Traditional Christmas Songs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at New Haven chapter.

Now that it’s finally December, we can go full on Christmas mode! One of the best things that gets me into the holiday spirit is listening to Christmas music. Everyone’s heard “Jingle Bells” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” but here are some of the best non-traditional Christmas songs of all time!

1. “Dominick the Donkey”

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time. The song is so catchy and fun, and you’re sure to tap your foot to the beat!

2. “The Chipmunk Song”

This is another song I grew up listening to. It’s such a light hearted song, and it always makes me smile.

*Authors note: Yes I do try to make my voice sound like a chipmunk when I sing along.

3. “Tell Me a Story”

An unlikely duo from Hilary Duff and Lil Romeo, this songs is basically the musical version of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. The pop and rap mix make sure this song is stuck in your head weeks. It’s been stuck in mine since 2002. In fact, Hilary Duff’s entire album Santa Clause Lane is filled with great songs.

These are my top three favorite non-traditional Christmas songs of all time. If I were you, I’d definitely give them a listen and add them to your Christmas playlist on Spotify (Don’t lie, you know you’ve got one).

Happy Holidays Collegiettes!
