Everyone knows the feeling when they hear a song come on the radio, and it automatically reminds them of a specific year, person or memory. We turn up the radio, roll the down all the windows, and scream the lyrics on the top of our lungs.

There were so many great hits always playing on the radio during this past summer that will always remind me of all the days I spent with my best friends going on adventures, lounging by the beach or the pool, or the long car rides to six flags or cliff jumping spots around the state.

These songs definitely sum up my summer, and whenever I hear these songs, I will blast the radio while reminiscing on summer 2016.

Sorry- Beyoncé

When Lemonade was suddenly released in April, everyone was dying to know if it was true that Jay-Z cheated on Beyoncé, and who Becky with the good hair was. This song was a hit all throughout the summer. This is a great song to jam to with your girls while screaming “Boy Bye!”

I hate U, I love U- Gnash

This song was released earlier in the year, but topped charts in April. All of my girl friends and I could relate to this song. This is the kind of song that would play in the background at one of our bonfires while we would all take turn gossiping about our boy drama.

Needed Me- Rihanna

Although Rihanna’s album, Anti, was released earlier in 2016, it was still a big deal over the summer. My friends and I just couldn’t help to scream “YOOOUUUU NeeEEEeeeeEEEeeeEEDED MEEEEE” out the window, while cruising by the beach or on the highway on hot summer days.

One Dance- Drake

Drake’s albums never seem to fail. Whenever this song came on in the car, all of my friends (especially the guys, which was hysterical) would sing and dance, and just go nuts. I will always laugh at the stupid dance moves they came up with for this song.

Cold Water- Major Lazer and Justin Bieber

Whenever these two team up, we’re in for a treat. Justin Bieber’s transformation over the years has been nothing less than amazing, and each song he releases is better and better. My friends and I loved joking around and singing this song as we would go cliff jumping into freezing fresh water rivers around Connecticut.

Gold- Kiiara

This song has a great beat, and is easy to sing and dance to, even when you can’t understand what she’s saying. I spent many nights this summer looking up the lyrics to prove to my friends that she was saying, “Roof is falling let me love me falling I just know”… Yeah try saying that 5 times fast.

Let Me Love You- DJ Snake and Justin Bieber

Once again, Justin was at it again with an electronic music producer, and we are not disappointed. This is the perfect kind of song to sing to your best friend while grabbing her face (or hand) and yelling at her, “Let me love you!”

Can’t Stop the Feeling- Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake has been a heartthrob since our generation was young, so how could we resist a new song by him? This song always made us want to just jump around and dance until we couldn’t breathe anymore.

Dangerous Woman- Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande showed us her “bad-ass” side this summer with this top hit. Ari killed this song and her lyrics were definitely Instagram caption worthy for pictures of my friends and I dressed up, looking fabulous.

Closer- The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey

This may have been the most popular hit of the summer, as it is currently the number one top hit song on ITunes. I can’t personally think of one person I know that doesn’t love this song. I have seen so many Snapchat stories with people singing this song, especially at the beach while enjoying the sun saying, “We ain’t ever getting older”.

This summer was special, as I got to live every day care free with all of my closest friends from home. Each one of these songs bring me happiness and allow me to relive certain memories I never want to forget.
