Aulmni Cutie Couple: Kyrsten and Paul

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at New Haven chapter.

Meet Alumni Couple Kyrsten Belini ’12 and Paul Minelli ‘13!

How did you meet?

Kyrsten Belini: Freshmen year we saw each other from across the room at a DSA party, he creeped me real hard for a while, and then we finally starting hanging out sophomore year and became best friends. The rest is history.

Paul Minelli: We met sophomore year I think I was creeping her on Facebook, and we became friends after that.

How long have you been dating?

KB: We have been dating for 4 ½ years, our 5 years is November 12th!

PM: 4 1/2 years.

Who initiated the first kiss?

KB: That was definitely Paul. Our first kiss happened way before we started dating

PM: Me.

What has been your most memorable date?

KB: My most memorable date would be when he surprised me with a homemade candlelit dinner when he got back from visiting his family in Italy for a month. I walked into his apartment, and there were flowers everywhere (I am a sucker for flowers) with dinner already on the table and candles lit with our song playing in the background. It’s the little things.

PM: We went to a chocolate wine bar in Manhattan and then went to a Rangers game where they destroyed the Canadians 5-0.

What is one your couple bucket list?

KB: To go SKY DIVING and to travel around the world like to BORA BORA!

PM: To go sky diving.

What is your favorite thing about your significant other?

KB: I love how devoted he is to his family, and that he is always true to himself! I love how he always consistently makes me laugh, goes above and beyond to put a smile on my face and has shown me what unconditional love truly is. I also love his fun, risky and adventurous side, he definitely brings that out in me!

PM: Her passion for what she does and her ambition as a doctoral student.

Who said “I love you” first?

KB: Shockingly, I accidentally said “I love you” first when we were in Cancun. We were enjoying ourselves, drinking Miami Vice’s and splashing water at each other and it slipped out of my mouth. I turned red and I was like “wait what?” Later that night we laid on one of the cabanas on the beach and we both said “I love you” to each other for the first time.

PM: I let it slip when I was drunk in Cancun.

How do you resolve arguments?

KB: The way we handle arguments has evolved over the years. COMMUNICATION IS KEY! No matter what obstacle stands in our way, we now listen to each other’s side and try to see it from each others point of view.

PM: We usually just let it sink in and talk about our issues when we both calm down.

Do you have any advice to give to new couples?

KB: Don’t rush anything that you want to last forever. Never ever think a long relationship will not work; if you love them and this is something you want then fight for it. Always cherish and appreciate the little things in your relationship and never take anything for granted. Time is precious with the one you love.

PM: Don’t rush into a relationship. We were friends for 2 years before we started dating.
