Almost three years since his last big release, singer/songwriter/ex-boyband member Niall Horan has released his new single, “Heaven.”
Horan has been teasing the release of new music for a while now and the wait is officially over. “Heaven” is out now with his third album The Show coming out on June 9, 2023. Based off what we already know about the album, I can feel it becoming the soundtrack to my summer.
The song is absolutely adorable, media outlets have called this new album cycle his “certified lover boy era” and “dreamy.” The lyrics showcase just how in love he is and almost make you blush with how sweet they are. With lyrics like “Your touch is made of something / Heaven can’t hold a candle to” and “You dance across the floor / Beyond infatuation / How I obsessively adore you” how could you NOT blush and twirl your hair?
Horan states that the chorus of the song (“God only knows where this could go / And even if our love starts to grow out of control / And you and me go up in flames / Heaven won’t be the same”) is a reflection of how much he is enjoying his life right now, saying it’s amazing and would hate for that feeling to be ruined by outside pressure. It is made fairly obvious how obsessed the singer is with his new girlfriend, who he has reportedly been dating since the beginning of 2020. Although the couple has remained out of the spotlight, it is apparent how infatuated they are with one another.
The beginning of the song feels like waking up from a dream, immediately followed by what fans have speculated is a sample of his former bandmate Harry Styles’ song “Grapejuice.” Many fan theories have been circulating on Twitter claiming Harry Styles will play some part in the release of Horan’s new album. From unreleased music video footage to a hike between friends, fans are convinced that Styles has something to do with the new album.
In a recent Instagram post, Horan expresses to fans how proud he is of this new album. He reveals the album cover and title, The Show, coming June 9, 2023. I cannot wait to listen to the rest of the work he put into this project, but in the meantime, I will be listening to “Heaven” on repeat.
“Heaven” is currently available on all platforms you listen to music. Happy listening!
