Spring 2011 Fashion Finds: The Pricey and The Affordable

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCSU chapter.

While shopping online this past week, I stumbled upon one of my favorite websites,Neimanmarcus.com and their run down of spring 2011 top fashion choices called The List. It showed many exciting and up-and-coming clothing choices that are sure to be spotted around campus come spring. However, I’m sure you guys, like me, can’t always afford these lovely designer clothes or jewelry from Neiman Marcus, but we can find clothes that still keep up with the trends in stores we love.

The List: (brought to you by NeimanMarcus.com)

1. Coral: I have already seen girls around my house and campus wearing coral sweaters and dresses. This bright color works with all skin tones, and it’s so cheerful and a great way to say goodbye to the drab days of winter and cold.

This is an Elizabeth and James tweed James Blazer sold on neimanmarcus.com

This sweater is sold at Express either online or in stores. It is an affordable twist on this great color.

 2. Bohemian Style: We have seen this style over the years and it looks like the Boho influence isn’t going away anytime soon. With earth and brass tones, large prints and flowy fabric this not only looks good, but also keeps you feeling cool with the springtime breeze.

A beaded Statement Cuff available at Neiman’s is perfect if you trying to represent this bohemian idea.

A great alternative to this beautiful cuff would be from Francesca’s called the Divinity Cuff for only 24 dollars!

3. Floral: Like Boho it has been circulating a lot as especially as we step away from winter and get closer to spring. Floral’s are perfect for warmer weather and the long sunny days ahead.

This is a D&G dress from their spring collection, how could you not want this Floral Dress that can even be purchased with matching Boyfriend Cardigan!

One of my favorite stores, Forever21 gives multiple options for floral this season, with shirts, dresses, shoes and skirts on a cheaper scale.

4. Stripes:Although some stripes are said to make you look a little more “horizontal,” with the way designers are now creating these looks it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Horizontal stripes on shirts, dresses and bags are wonderful for spring.

A cute Vince Slouchy Top looks really nice with either leggings or skinny jeans!

A more affordable look comes from Forever21, Like with everything else, Forever gives tons of options when it comes to stripes.

5. Wide Leg Pants: it seems as though fashion history is repeating itself and bringing all types of inspiration from the ‘70’s! Wide leg pants are coming back and look great with a tucked in shirt, it is something that can be dressed up or dressed down.

These Armani Collezioni Wide Leg Sports Pants are perfect for the spring, they even fall into the next item on the list, the white category.

Or a good alternative would be flare jeans from Express and they are affordable and stylish!

6. White: When spring is in mind we think of bright colors, and how we are “allowed” to wear white again. Usually you wait till after Easter to “legally” wear white, but for these finds I think it is safe to say you can break the law early this season!

A Dior Satin Guipure Lace Dress, this expensive but beautiful dress is bright and would look great in the springtime for a night on the town.

LuLu’s.com makes lots of cute dresses and shoes for good prices including this Retail therapy white dress.

 7. Flat sandals: Put your winter boots away time to bring back some sexy sandals! While I love heels, it is nice to be able to make comfortable shoes that still look hot! Embellished sandals are the new thing, let your shoes make your outfit better this season!

Christian Louboutin Hola Chica Flat Sandals are a girls dream! I want a pair right now, but I think, with my bank account I better stick with the other choice.

Target.com has a great selection of shoes, especially sandals. They range from prices as low a $4 to $50 and everywhere in between.

8. Long Necklace: We all love accessories, and jewelry is a good way to make a plain dress pop! From colorful and chunky to simple in slinky anything can make outfits go from ordinary to Wow!

Ippolita Turquoise Lollipop Necklace, beautiful and something to save for, and it would look amazing
with a “LBD.”

Francesca’s Jewel Peacock Necklace has the same affect as the one above.  The whole store has great jewelry and clothes for great prices.

9. Cross Body Bag: Hate carrying a big purse around? An easy way to nip this problem in the bud is to invest in a satchel! They hang across your body, hence the name; you making anything you need accessible in a snap.  Never worry about loosing your bag again!

Chloe Marcie Shoulder-Strap Satchel is made of great leather and will look great with your floral shirt and wide leg pants!

H&M Cross Body Bag is versatile and can be worn with a dress or something more casual.

The future of spring seems to be looking quite bright and is giving the fashionistas something to look forward to. Let’s get away from the gloomy winter as fast as possible and move into spring and all the wonders it has to offer. Whether it is the beautiful designer collections or the equally hot and affordable stores like Forver21 or H&M, let’s all just agree to work the runway this season!
