Sex, Studies and Saturdays. These are the three most popular topics in conversation around campus. Admit it. Simply walking to class you probably overhear people quizzing each other for the upcoming test. Somewhere between pulling out your notebook and writing down today’s date you encounter a dreadfully detailed story about someone’s sexcapade from the night before. By the time your page is full of notes and that notebook is finding its spot back into your book bag, someone will be asking what the plans are for Saturday.

Why do we dwell on Sex, Studies and Saturdays? They make us who we are, crazed college students notorious for making good grades and throwing awesome parties. They keep us sane and challenge us at the same time. Without Sex, Studies and Saturdays we might as well be…anything but wolves on the prowl.

Sex is in the game of love and lust, a game we are always playing in. It can be our escape or it can be our dilemma. When the name of the game is simply “sex” it conceals a million sub-categories no one really cares to notice until asked. Is it making love? Is it erotic? Is it friends with benefits? Is it getting screwed over? Is it a one night stand? Is it willingly? Is it oral? Is it hot and steamy? Is it a booty call? Is it heterosexual or is it homosexual? Is it protected? Is it going on in the room right next to you? Yes, we all have these questions and go about our days hoping to find the answers, or someone who can help us come up with the right answer.

Studies are why we are here. Sure we hate our assignments and our professors for assigning them, but in all actuality they bring us closer to the people around us, forming networks we can use for years to come and inevitably making us into little Einsteins (even though Einstein didn’t actually go to college)… You may not realize it when you’re studying until 4a.m. in D.H. Hill, but you know come Saturday, you and I will both be singing along to Asher Roth, “I wanna go to college for the rest of my life!”

Saturdays come and go faster than you can say keg party, but like every red empty solo cup, they are soon refilled to bring you more celebration and distraction from your successful past week and the busy one that awaits you. Saturdays may just contain the only memories you (wish to) remember most from your college experience.

Prepare yourself for what is to come…after this week’s Sex, Studies and Saturdays.
