It has been a little over a month since college has started. Being a junior does not feel much different, but it makes me a little sad knowing that it is slowly all starting to come to an end. I have met so many incredible people the past few years and have made so many memories that will last me a lifetime. I appreciate all that my friends have taught me and influenced me to try (I never thought that I would like sushi). I have become more extroverted because of them, and I am so thankful for that.

As we are growing older, getting jobs, and becoming much busier during the days, it has been hard to catch up with my friends more frequently. I know that I should not feel upset because I know it is natural, but it just makes me wonder how often we will be seeing each other 10 years from now. Life is so short, and I only started to realize this over the COVID-19 pandemic. I used to be so focused on school and my work in high school that I did not hang out with my friends as much as I should have. But after the pandemic, my perspective on life really changed. Don’t get me wrong, I still think that it is very important to prioritize your education and well-being, but I also think it is okay to take a break here and there to bring you back to the reality that life is short. The past month I have gone out with my old friends as well as built stronger connections with new friends.

I am also so glad to attend a university that has such a great football team because college gamedays have been so fun. Spending the whole day with friends and not having to worry about school for just one day feels so good; it is also great seeing everyone come together to support the Pack. Whether it’s a home or an away game, spending time together is what I look forward to. We could be doing absolutely nothing, but if I am with them, I am happy.

I know so many of my fellow college peers can relate, and I hope they are having a great experience so far. I am excited to see how the rest of the semester plays out.

My name is Rose Soltani and I am a writer of Her Campus at NC State University. I love writing and sharing my thoughts and ideas with everyone! I am a 4th year Business Administration Major with a Concentration in Marketing and I am also minoring in Middle East Studies. Upon graduation I am looking forward to attending law school due to my passion for law and legal rights issues. In the summer of 2022, I was fortunate enough to be a part of Duke University Law School's Pre-Law Fellowship. I learned so much valuable information about preparing for law school as well as the legal field. This past summer, I focused on studying for the LSAT. I was raised in Charlotte, NC and am the oldest of 3 children. I have 2 younger brothers so I love spending time with when I am back at home. I love baking, traveling, going for walks, and spending time with family and friends in my free time. Some of my favorite movies include How to Lose a Guy in 10 days and Father of the Bride.
