An original poem about dedication, love and pride for the PACK!
by Catie Acitelli, Junior in math education and Spanish.

I thought and I thought of how to best express

my love and compassion for nothing but the best.
I flipped through memories, but quickly realized:
It’s nearly impossible to truly show my Wolfpack pride.
I have many photos, but those just won’t do,
so I thought it best to spell it out for you:

I share my experiences with those who (may not) care,

and then I hear theirs, if they choose to share.
There is no replacement for what I have seen,
as this whole Wolfpack family is much more than a team.
We all walk through campus with books in our bags
on a day-to-day basis, dodging hump-day lag.

All-nighters in the Hill, with coffee galore,
it never fails that a friend is asleep on the floor.
“Stay awake,” an encouraging word from another;
When we get to that point, it’s like we’re sisters and brothers.
I don’t care if you have a psych or history test,
I’ll study math, so I can do my absolute best!

The company State keeps is truly surreal –
a unity that another could even hope to feel.
It’s clear that connections I’ve made while in Raleigh
will forever be phenomenal resources for me.
It’s hard to describe how much we’ve all invested
but I know, from my heart, it won’t be rejected.

We all come from so many different places
to form the perfect blend of great people and faces.
A university is a simply collection of education –
good thing I chose the best one in the nation!
Nothing can replace the amazing experiences I’ve had,
as I learn to do away with the bad.

“College was the best time of my life,”
…so why, then, is there so much strife?
Who knows? Who cares? We’re here!
Live it up! Be you! Don’t fear!
Today is what shapes who you will be
tomorrow and after, so just be free.

It took me a while to learn this, it’s true,
but NC State is here to help YOU.
Do you know that they offer thousands of resources?
And no, I’m not talking just about courses.
I love the Pack for all that WE do,
with service, community, and scholarship too.

We all live a different (busy) life from the next.
It’s hard to keep up – thank goodness for text.
The faculty and staff do all they know how
to see that we can look at ourselves with a “wow.”
Isn’t it great to see yourself and others succeed?
Yeah, I think it was State’s intention, indeed.

I love how State encourages so much,
so I’ll tell you from personal experience and such –
Shack-A-Thon, Relay for Life, Leader of the Pack – there’s more…
Teaching Fellows, Spanish, and work at the C-Store.
With Math and education forever instilled,
teaching logarithms was my biggest thrill.

Academics, service, and sports are one in the same –
without one or the other, there’d be no game.
Don’t even get me started on our fans –
they’re loyal, they’re crazy, and they love our marching band.
Mr. and Ms. – yeah, we’ve got two,
watch out Carolina, you just might get booed.

The atmosphere that surrounds me
at a football game is astounding.
All students and parents alike,
in one stadium, til the very last hike.
There’s never a dull moment with us,
so being there is a definite must.

I could continue forever of amazing moments,
like corn-hole outside of the tailgating tents.
So many new friends I have made while at school,
that I almost feel…don’t laugh…quite cool!
I try to be the very best I can be,
and only NC State has shown that to me.

I live, breathe, and bleed Wolfpack red,
so my undying commitment to them need not be said.
This game marks a moment in history –
something that I truly hope to see.
I’ll leave you with one last thought to ponder –
How will you leave your mark on such a wonder?
