Yes, you read that correctly. These are all free services provided by NC State for their students. Some of these services are covered by those vague “student fees” you pay for every semester. Make sure you’re getting your money’s worth and check these out because I definitely will be.
- Student Legal Services
-
Since classes are once again back online, you or a friend may find yourself looking for a way out of your current lease. If this is true, look no further than USLS or University Student Legal Services. Their purpose is to provide representation, education, and legal advice. Other services include notarizing important documents, credit rehabilitation, estate matters such as wills, and so much more which can be found on their website. They even have a podcast called “The Legal Werk Podcast” that may provide you with some quick advice if you’re in a bind.
- Tripsaver
-
If you’re too scared to download PDF textbooks from the internet like the rest of us, then the NCSU library may be the place for you. They even have a program, Tripsaver, that will send books to your home for free if you’re a distance education learner. If our library doesn’t have what you’re looking for, it can also be borrowed from Duke, NC Central, and UNC Libraries through Interlibrary loan. Another option is to request a scanned article via email! Any one of the articles within the NCSU library collection can be scanned and sent free of charge.
- Library

For all of the student creators, there’s plenty of items at NC State that are available to you. Also located at the library, D.H. Hill is home to a few different 3D printers. Students can make prototypes, prosthetics, anything you can imagine. These are all first come, first serve, and the only price that may apply would be for materials. Other items that can be borrowed include but are not limited to cameras, projectors, audio equipment, computers, and even wellness items. All of these can be found on the library’s website along with instructions on how to borrow each device.Â
- Nutrition CounselingÂ
-
Has quarantine been your time to focus on new workouts like the Chloe Ting challenge? Or maybe you’re just looking to eat healthier? Well, you’re in luck because you’re allowed two free nutrition counseling sessions per academic year! They also provide medical nutrition therapy for vitamin/ mineral deficiencies, food allergies, and sports nutrition. All you need to do is call Student Health Services to set up an appointment.Â

- Wellness Coaching
-
Many students struggle to manage a full schedule of online classes. There seems to be no structure, and it can be difficult to find what works for you on your own. Whether you’re on or off-campus, you are entitled to receive four free wellness coaching sessions. With this, experts can help you to develop time management, stress management, and help you with goal setting. They even provide sessions for nutrition and workouts that would be beneficial for you based on what you want to achieve. Sessions are now taking place through zoom and google hangout for both your safety and the safety of the coaches.
Overall, there are so many awesome programs that NC State has to offer. These are just a few that I was unaware of before sitting down to write this article. Be sure to use your resources wisely and always check out the school website to see what services are available to students. The academic advisors are also a great resource to go to if you’re in need of something on campus. A couple of well-known resources I did not include are the Career Development Center and the Tutorial Center. If you’re new on campus, these are also equally important and you should check them out if you haven’t already. Hope you enjoyed hearing about all of these and stay tuned for more information you didn’t know you needed!
