Wearing makeup can either go really right or really wrong. Everything could be going perfect and one wrong flick of the wrist could leave you with sharpie eyebrows. Here are our five helpful tips and recommendations to guarantee a major campus make-up slay.

1. Match made in Heaven:

Foundation is the holy grail to any makeup look because it is what the name is “The Foundation”. It sets the tone and direction of the makeup look, and without the perfect match of foundation you could end up looking ghostly. After many different foundation colors I learned from experience that it is critical to get the perfect air brushed finish.

To avoid looking like Casper you could visit your local beauty counters such as Mac or Sephora to get color matched by a professional.

2. Put the Sharpie down

Everyone has their own personal way of filling in eyebrows whether it is natural or dramatic. It is essential to find the perfect shade to accommodate your skin tone and hair color. Black should never be used to fill in an eyebrow because it is too harsh for any skin tone. Instead of a black eyeliner pencil grab a dark brown pomade to give you that natural looking brow.

3. Low End vs. High End

We’re on a college budget and any trendy person knows there are good dupes to every expensive product. I used to be strictly a MAC girl until Youtube became my best friend. I tried out some drugstore products and saved my pockets from those high-end makeup prices. It is possible to slay on a budget and below are some drugstore brands that are just as BOMB for the low.

Maybelline

Loreal

Black Opal (BLACK OWNED)

NYX

Elf Cosmetics

4. Know your Color:

Lipstick can be the perfect accessory to any makeup look. For my girls with melanin, please choose colors that compliment your skin tone. Some colors that look wonderful on brown skin are purple, dark red, and burgundy. Fall is among us and these colors are a must have for this season.

5. Flick your Wrist

Blend until your fingers fall off ladies! Last but not least blending your makeup will confirm your slayage. No one wants a mask on their face where you can see where your makeup begins. Do not forget to blend on your neck when applying your foundation!  Never blend with a dry beauty blender always make sure it is damp to ensure a flawless finish. Sponges are best when blending foundation, but make sure you clean your sponges before every application. Dirty sponges will clog your pores with old makeup and you don’t want to end up with a pepperoni face!
