For Those Lonely Nights

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCAT chapter.

It’s Saturday night and for some reason or another you’re sitting at home alone. Maybe you need personal time or aren’t mentally up for going out with friends. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, there are a lot more productive and beneficial ways that you can spend your night.

1. Read a book

With all this downtime pick up a great story or find a self-help book that can motivate you. Reading is a skill that will always be helpful!

2. Find an adult coloring book

For the artsy folks, pick up a pack of color pencils, play some chill music and color to your heart’s content. This action will clear your mind and melt your stress away.

3. Clean your room

There is always something, somewhere that needs to be sorted through or cleared out. This can take up more time than you’d think and next thing you know it’s time for bed.

4. Do homework

Be productive and be great! Take advantage of the fact that you’re home while everyone else is hanging out and partying. The most successful people have to make sacrifice’s for their goals to come true. So think of this as a requirement for the awesome life you’ll have in the future.

5. Plan your next day/week

With only so many hours in the day it’s crucial that we take advantage of every single minute because we can never get the time back (until time machine’s are invented of course).

6. Have a mini spa session

Chances are, there is something in your life that’s stressing you out right now. This stress can easily be reflected back onto your body in the form of acne, sore feat, or wrinkle lines. Take the time to relieve your body of this stress and put on a face mask or give yourself a pedicure.

7. Watch your favorite movies

There are those 2 or 3 movies that, without a doubt, are our cinematic bread and butter. So pop that DVD in (or surf the web) for that classic Disney Channel movie or the 1990s hit. Whatever it may be, sit back and fully enjoy the film and laugh, or cry, with yourself.

Hi everyone! I am a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University who should be majoring in Weddings, but is actually a Journalism & Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia. Originally I am from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is about 30 minutes south of our nation’s capital. I have lived here all my life, but I’m not afraid to branch out and explore the world. This past summer I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia to engage and immerse myself in Australian culture. The experience was phenomenal and I’m already counting down the days until I can return that beautiful country. Check out my Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
