Afri-Queen,

What lies behind those dark brown eyes?

I see hurt, I see pain, and I also see shame.

I can tell you have been hurt, I can see you are in pain but please tell me what are you so ashamed of?

Is it your dark brown skin that you so graciously flaunt?

Is your Afrocentric hair that gives you some type of pause?

Is it your curves that make you look so oh bootylicious?

How beautiful, how precious you are!

Oh Afri-Queen,

Get to know yourself just a little bit more.

You are perfectly imperfect and that is quite okay.

Embrace your flaws,

For once you embrace them, you empower yourself.

You are a QUEEN,

Act as such.

Know your worth.

Know your value.

Keep your legs closed, and learn how to be a lady.

Every fool walking around does not deserve to have your “cookies.”

A real man accepts you, flaws and all.

You are a QUEEN,

Be treated as such.

Learn to say “yes” to a KING because only a king deserves your “yes.”

Stand tall, be bold, and be confident

In yourself, in your body, and in who you are.

So Afri-Queen,

Are you ready to get in formation?

Slay, Queen, slay.

Read, write, and love!
Hi everyone! I am a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University who should be majoring in Weddings, but is actually a Journalism & Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia. Originally I am from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is about 30 minutes south of our nation’s capital. I have lived here all my life, but I’m not afraid to branch out and explore the world. This past summer I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia to engage and immerse myself in Australian culture. The experience was phenomenal and I’m already counting down the days until I can return that beautiful country. Check out my Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
