Ronne Brown’s “Mopping Floors to Making Millions on Instagram”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCAT chapter.

As I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I came across a book called “From Mopping Floors to Making Millions on Instagram” by Ronne Brown. I realized that I had followed her Instagram page for some time now, as well as her business page, @GirlCEO, which she deems as a playground for female entrepreneurs. Her goal is to help lay the foundation for women to be powerful in running a business and empower women to be the CEOs of their family lives and homes.

In her book, she gives a little background about her life and where she came from. She explains how her upbringing and family life pushed her to be where she is today. Ronne also shares with her readers the journey regarding her career life. She demonstrates that every place she’s been, equipped her with the tools she needed to be successful in the future.  One of my favorite things about the book is that she was very transparent and open about her life failures and triumphs, displaying that life isn’t always perfect but the real test is how hard you are willing to work for the life you want.

A key point that I took from the book was first time management. Time is money! If you plan to be an entrepreneur, you have to be disciplined with your time. Restricting your time and prioritizing what is most important is critical if you are trying to balance your family life and business.  Even limiting time spent on social media is important, although it may be for your business, it is still vital to create boundaries when scrolling down your timeline.

Work from your heart and stay consistent. When pursuing such a great challenge like starting a business, the only thing that will keep you going is your passion for what you are doing.  When you are working in your purpose, you are able to “stay in your own lane and not crash”, as she emphasizes in the book. When your work is purposeful, it is more genuine. This is what makes others gravitate to you and your brand because of your transparency.

Ronne encourages her readers not to settle for less and that the confidence you have within yourself determines the confidence that others will have in you. You have to be so confident in yourself that you can make anyone believe anything that you put in front of them. Also, remaining confident in who you are will help live in a place of contentment. It’s okay not to keep up with the Joneses, living below your means and loving the beautiful life you were given is more important than temporary materialistic fulfillment.

I am so glad that I was able to read this beautifully written book by Ronne Brown. She has inspired me as well as so many other people across the world, to walk in our purpose and be smart with our business, personal finances, and family life. As a young aspiring entrepreneur, I plan to take the advice from this book and implement them into my everyday life as well as business as I build my brand. I encourage everyone to read her book and take the first steps to create your own success story.
