Kesonia and Tenia. Two different, beautiful souls that came into my life at two different times. The one thing that they hold in common is the fact that they are my best friends. When I went off to college, I left them behind, but there many perks in having long distance best friends.

Perk 1: You always have someone to talk to. They miss you just as much as you miss them. You can call them, text them, or FaceTime them at anytime, and they will always answer.

Perk 2: You get to plan visits to see each other. There’s nothing more exciting than reuniting with your best friends. You count down the months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds until you are both running towards each other about to embrace in a long, long, long bear hug!

Perk 3: They are always there to give you unbiased opinions. If you’re dealing with a college friendship, relationship, or situation, in most cases your best friends don’t know the person, and they can you give you the best advice possible without having a bias.

Perk 4: There’s always something to talk about. There’s so much that goes on in daily life, and even if you and your best friend have been talking all day, there will still be stuff to mention. Boring conversations aren’t even a thing in long distance friendships.

Perk 5: No one could ever replace them. Yes, you go through life and meet new people, but no one can ever compare or replace best friends. With homework, social events, and trying to get enough sleep, you still manage to remain close and maintain your friendship.

A long distance friendship is a friendship that will last forever. Although I miss my best friends like crazy, I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

Hi everyone!

I am a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University who should be majoring in Weddings, but is actually a Journalism & Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia. Originally I am from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is about 30 minutes south of our nation’s capital. I have lived here all my life, but I’m not afraid to branch out and explore the world.

This past summer I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia to engage and immerse myself in Australian culture. The experience was phenomenal and I’m already counting down the days until I can return that beautiful country.
