Red Madness happens every fall and is a chance for the Manhattanville College community to come together and show their school pride. This is the chance for sports teams to introduce themselves by performing a funny skit. They are judged by a panel of faculty and in the end their is one team that wins. The tradition is one of the many highlights of the fall semester. This year they even created a Snapchat geotag so you can snap the night away!

This Red Madness had a strong meaning. This event was dedicated to Robert Schartner ’18 who tragically passed away due to a drunk driver. The gym wall even had decorations and letters that spelt out “For Robby” was hung up to dedicate this Red Madness to him. The event started off with a moment to recognize his dedication to the lacrosse team and his love for Manhattanville. Everyone stood up holding up three fingers which has become viral after the hastags #teamthree #RS3 were use in photos of fellow students, faculty, lacrosse communities and people across the US showing their love and support for the former valiant. At this moment, a communtiy came together. This night was for Robby.

There were many performances not just from sports teams, but from dance clubs as well. The new knew Latin dance team on campus performed for the first time and won over the crowd with their sassy moves. Crowd favorites Minds in Motion (MIMO) and Dance Troupe came back with their amazing choreopgrahpy. This year there was a new addition to the dance line up. Manhattanville Dance Ensemble performed at the event for the first time to a pumped up and sassy JLo song.

As for team performances, everyone brought their best movies. Women’s Rugby was last years champs and came back determined to keep the title. While they did work hard, they were outshined by three teams who battled against one another in the end. Men and women’s basketball and men’s ice hockey were the final three teams with a tie. Men’s basketball did a great job with pumping up the crowd while women’s basketball brought their strong moves. They did an amazing performance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Juju On That Beat. Ice Hockey did amazing choreopgraphy as a team and even had a great moment when did did the classic Dirty Dancing lift. In the end, all three teams had to do a dance off which determined the winner in the end. Ice Hockey ended up pulling through as the winners.

This year Red Madness not only showed that we can come together and have a fun night, but we can also come together at a time our community is still recovering from a devestating loss.
