Senior Spotlights: Adrena Daw

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mville chapter.

Adrena Daw is a senior here at Manhattanville College. You can find Adrena on the softball field playing for the Valiants as number 18, playing as a utility. I took the time to sit with Adrena and ask her some questions about being a college athlete and a student at Manhattanville.

What is your year and major?

AD: My major is a double major in Political Science and History with a concentration in Criminal Law.  I am currently a senior graduating in May.

What made you choose your major?

AD: I chose my majors because my dream is to be a lawyer and Professor Pauley as well as Professor Sarver have been huge supporters in my dream.  I also love to learn about the past and being a history major has given me that opportunity.

What sport do you play on campus?

AD: I currently play softball, and I’ve been playing since I was 5 years old.

How is it juggling being a college athlete and a full-time student?

AD: At first it was a challenge balancing softball, school, and work.  But what I have learned is to create schedules to figure out when I will complete a certain assignment and when practices are going to be.  I’ve learned that if I create a schedule and stick to it, I can maintain good grades and keep up with workouts as well as softball practices.

What are your plans after graduation in May?

AD: After graduation, I will hopefully be working for a law firm in the White Plains area or the city.  I will also be getting married to my high school sweetheart June 1st, 2018.  I am also looking for different plots of land so my fiancé and I can start building our dream home.

What is something that most people wouldn’t know about you?

AD: I think what most people don’t know about me is that I am getting married, I have an adopted 15-year-old sister, and that I put others before myself.  It makes me happy when I get to see other people’s happiness and knowing I could help them out in some way.
