Welcome back Valiants! With September brings back our late night study sessions, and the much need playlist to get us through it all.  School can be stressful, but music can help.  The music I picked for this playlist is a little slower, a little relaxed, sometimes a little jazzy, with a fast and fun song or two to really motivate you when you start to lag during your two AM cram session.  Here are a few of my favorites from the playlist, the rest will be listed below the article!

The 1975 – If I Believe You

Ever since their new album dropped back in February, it’s been one of my favorite things to listen to when I just need to relax, and maybe I’ve been binging them a little harder lately because I saw them over the summer, and their live was performance was moving.  It had me nearly in tears; it was truly that beautiful.  “If I Believe You” is probably my favorite off the album, it’s jazzy, smooth, and has a sax solo to die for.

Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks

Yet another band I saw in concert this summer.  I happen to own their album “My Head is an Animal,” which is one of my favorite things to listen to while on vacation, or going to the beach.  “Little Talks” has always been one of my favorites, but when I took a real listen to it this summer, and understood the message they were trying to spread, it brought a tear to my eye.  Loving someone with depression is hard, they not only lose themselves, but it feels like you’re losing them too.  The song is about working together to not let the depression win, and working together to make it safe to shore.

X Ambassadors – Unsteady

The X Ambassadors made it until the playlist twice this month, their music is really amazing lyrical, and musically in my opinion.  “Unsteady” is a song about loving someone even when they’re struggling. Being there for someone while they struggle is the most, and best thing, we can do for someone when they truly need us and are hurting.  “Hold onto me, I’m a little unsteady”

Closer – The Chainsmokers and Halsey

I’ve always loved Halsey; I always knew the name of the Chainsmokers, but not their music.  The beat of the song lured me in right away, the song’s message is fun, entertaining, and wholesome.  We’re young, things have happened between, but let’s have fun tonight.

Cemetery Sun – (Hard Drugs) Fake Love

Light snaps, a good beat, and a good base drop.  The song automatically drew me in, and had me bobbing my head to the rhythm.  The song itself has its own aesthetic, it draws out the angsty teenager inside of us all – but in a good way, I swear.

Here’s the rest of the playlists -BTS Music? (BTS is back to school!)  Feel free to follow me on Spotify for more playlists, or stick around hercampus.com/mville to see more!
