Long Distance Friendship

“Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there.”

A wooden sign that says that sits on my desk. This sign was given to me by my best friend, Tasha. Tasha lives in Florida and I live in New York.

We met our sophomore year of high school and immediately bonded over a love of Glee, musicals, and movies. We became closer as the years went on and have made hilarious memories, such as almost crashing my car the third day I had my license because we were singing Taylor Swift too loud (sorry mom and dad), jumping on hotel beds at theatre competitions, or when we met Chris Colfer from Glee.

Sadly, our early morning Starbucks runs and theme park days were cut short when I went 1127 miles away from our town to college.

We replaced breakfast dates with funny early morning snapchats, and theme park days with FaceTimes.

While it sucks not having your best friend when you need her most, I also know I can always count on her. The times I get to see her are so sweet and special.

Tasha, I know you’re reading this and I hope you know just how important you are to me! You always can make me laugh and cheer me up when I need it. I can’t imagine a life without you and your kindness. I will always there for you because you’re my person.

Hug your bestie today. And if they’re at a long distance, call them and tell them you love them!
