3 Highlights From College Fashion Week 2017

By Francheska Kola

1. Location – Metropolitan West

In the heart of midtown Manhattan, right along the Hudson river, with a perfect view of the intended final destination the titanic, this scenic venue made waiting on a line wrapped around the block so worth it.

2. Entertainment/Fashion

At the start of the show we were welcomed and introduced to Trinidad Cardona. He proceeded to light up the floor with a vivacious and enthusiastic performance of his very own original tune “Jennifer” (which can be found on Spotify, Soundcloud, and YouTube). He set an upbeat and vibrant tone for the runway shows to come and got the crowd engaged amid all the stands surrounding the walls of the venue. The shows themselves were very well organized and seeing real college students on the runway rocking these incredible ensembles was eye opening! At other fashion shows viewers are so distant from the models in terms of likelihood of possibly holding the same position but, being a her campus member, we are given the opportunity to apply and strut down the runway just like Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima. The girls walking during this college fashion week rocked their PRIMARK outfits with utter confidence and poise.

3. Goodies!!

Now we all love going to a fashion show for the experience and the outfits but getting to take home free goodies is certainly the icing on the cake. This year’s sponcers included Primark, Ulta, Bed Head by TIGI, IT Cosmetics, Spindrift Sparkling Water, StudentUniverse, POPSUGAR and much more. The goodie bags we left with included mini hair straighteners, makeup, mani ER kits, etc. It also helped to receive the bag in the beginning because in between fashion shows we were able to walk around the different venders who were promoting their products and giving away things like chapsticks and mirrors and we had the bags to hold it all together! All in all this was such an amazing experience and everything about it was absolutely perfect!
