Questions You Should Be Asking Your Best Friend

No matter how long you have known someone, you must always put in the effort to continue to learn more about them! Below are four questions you can ask your best friend to better understand them and be able to support them as their pal.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

You understand what personal attribute that individual values most.  A big part of friendship is instilling confidence in one another. Knowing what is important to their self-worth will help you raise them up.

When you think of your childhood, what memories make you nostalgic?

When you ask someone this question, you will get an idea of their childhood highlight reel. Their answer can help you comfort your friend when they are overwhelmed with life and lead to deeper conversations about their past.

What’s your favorite thing to do alone?

Everyone needs alone time. No matter how extroverted you think you are, everyone needs some time to themselves. I like to call this time of solitude “recharge time.” Understanding how a person recharges their battery is important to know when building a relationship. When you detect their energy getting low, you can suggest they do this activity without asking them a million times, “What’s wrong with you?”

When you are upset, how do you prefer to be comforted?

This question is GOLD. It is inevitable that in any relationship you will have to console the other person. Asking them how you can support them will prepare you to be a positive presence when the time comes.
