Winter break was nice, but spring semester is approaching fast. I know I’m not ready to go back yet. Here are some tips to make spring semester your best semester.

Create a packing list

Before you even get back on campus, put together a list of what you need to take back to school with you. Nothing can get you on the wrong foot faster than forgetting your favorite blanket or forgetting your toothbrush.

Buy a planner

Having a planner makes remembering due dates and organizing your to do lists much easier. Make sure it’s big enough and that you have enough space to write down all of the things you need to get done that day.

Buy all of your supplies

Some people wait until after the class starts to buy their textbooks. If that works for you, then that’s awesome. Personally, it doesn’t work for me. If you buy all of your supplies before classes start, then you don’t have to find time to run to the store and sort through the last of the school supplies. One thing to keep in mind if you do buy your books early and one of them is loose-leaf or has an access code, don’t open that book until after classes start. You don’t want to open the plastic wrap and be stuck with an expensive textbook that you’ll never use and you can’t return.

Create a playlist for the mornings

Put all of your favorite songs in one place so that you can start your mornings on the right foot. Listen to your playlist when you’re getting ready and on your morning commute.

Make a plan for handling stress

If you anticipate battling stress, then get a plan together to prevent it. Try taking a yoga class or scheduling workouts or breaks into your week. Also put together a plan for what you’re going to do when things do get overwhelming. Take a break. Buy an adult coloring book. If you plan ahead, then you can fight stress more efficiently.

Enjoy your last days of freedom

While you want to be prepared for the semester, also take time to enjoy the last of winter break. Go out with friends. Spend time with family. Finish your winter break reading list. Play some video games. Have fun.
