Every year, Hallmark releases Christmas movies that I end up watching on Christmas Break while crying on my couch.  This year, they are releasing a record 34 new movies for 2018, stepping up their game for the Christmas season.  While I’m excited about the new movies, I can’t help but keep re-watching all of the movies that have already premiered.  Here is a list of my five favorites so far.

5. The Christmas Train (2017)

“A cynical journalist decides to take a train from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles for Christmas to get inspiration for a story in honor of his late father.  He gets to know the other passengers and runs into an old flame while aboard.”

I have to say, since this is a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, my expectations were incredibly high and boy were they MET.  Hallmark is known for having younger couples in their films and it was so nice to see an “older” couple for once.  This is such a good movie with a great plot and great characters.  Starring Dermot Mulroney, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Joan Cusack.

4. Crown for Christmas (2015)

“After being fired from her job as a maid at a ritzy New York City hotel, Allie reluctantly accepts a temporary gig as the governess to a young girl who is part of a powerful family in Europe that lives in a castle.”

Hallmark is no stranger to princess movies but this one stands out to me.  It somehow reminds me of The Princess Diaries and What a Girl Wants.  I love seeing Allie fall in love with King Max and take his daughter, Princess Theodora, as her own.  This movie never gets old.  Starring Danica McKellar and Rupert Penry-Jones.

3. Christmas Getaway (2017)

“A travel writer takes a Christmas vacation, but finds herself double-booked with a widower, his mother, and his daughter at the holiday site.”

I saw this movie for the first time a few days ago and I have to say… I LOVED IT.  It’s always the case of the man being widowed but I love it every time.  Emory and Scott are perfect for each other in every way and the relationship between his mother Marilyn and Hal, the local cabin owner, is incredibly sweet and perfect for the season of giving and love.  I loved this movie, and I think you will too. Starring Bridget Regan and Travis Van Winkle.

2. Christmas in Evergreen (2017)

“Hoping to spur her longtime beau to action, a small-town veterinarian wishes upon a snow globe that this will be her most romantic Christmas ever.”

Yet another widow-meets-single-woman story that I will watch forever.  When people ask me what I love about Hallmark Christmas, I ALWAYS say Christmas in Evergreen!!  This is such a classic (even though it came out last year) that I will continue to watch EVERY time it’s on TV.  It tells a great story about family and love that I continue to love myself.  Starring Ashley Williams, Teddy Sears, and Barbara Niven.  (SURPRISE!  Catch the sequel Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa THIS YEAR on Hallmark Countdown to Christmas!)

1. The Mistletoe Promise (2016)

“Two strangers with a disdain for Christmas make a holiday pact to pretend to be a couple to ease their holiday complications.  As they spend more time together, the phony couple begins to experience the magic of Christmas.”

I can’t get over the QUALITY of this movie.  I love how they’re doing something that’s incredibly common during the holiday season.  People pretend to be dating through the holidays to avoid the endless questioning of family members.  Elise and Nick have the sweetest chemistry and make me believe that this is a real story with people that I know.  One of Hallmark’s best!  Starring Jaime King and Luke Macfarlane.

Whether or not you like these movies doesn’t really make a difference.  There is truly a Hallmark Christmas movie out there for EVERYONE!  Check out Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas every day on the Hallmark Channel!
