A MINI GUIDE TO MAKING GOOD USE OF TIME IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MUJ chapter.

The outbreak of the coronavirus which originated from Wuhan, China had spread over six continents. It had affected the day-to-day lives of people all around the world; bringing a very odd and unexpected change. The spread of coronavirus was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization.

Our life was cursed with the birth of this virus, but on the other hand we were also blessed with the essential factor, TIME. Some of you may ask, “Why does time matter so much?” The answer to this question really matters because you can’t get wasted time back. With time in hand, you have the opportunity to explore all the things you ever wanted to learn or do, and it’s quite possible. But for that to happen, you have to manage your time wisely and plan your day. Ultimately, our main goal in life is to be successful. To do something big, achieve the greater goods while fighting against all the odds; and it all starts from somewhere.

You don’t have to sit and wonder if the time’s right. Time is constant. You will have to make your time meaningful and worthwhile. There is no magic pill, you will have to work hard every day to get closer to your goal. If you run after short-term success then it’s going to take you nowhere. But if you have an ambition and you have a long-term goal, then my friend the journey to your goal is nothing but beautiful. The entire process is so engaging that if you use your time to dosomething that you’re passionate about then time will fly and you won’t even notice it. It’s important to manage your time. We all have 24 hours in a day. To be more efficient and productive during the day; one should organize, prioritize and function according to the requirements that are essential for the development of a person or a particular skill.

If you don’t have a goal where to go or vision, you end up drifting around and never end up anywhere. In today’s rapidly growing and demanding world, it is important to stand out from a crowd and have skill sets that set you aside from the majority. To follow your passion is to follow your dreams. Once you’ve set a goal that is challenging but at the same time enjoyable; that’s when you’ll actually achieve your ultimate goal. The majority of people don’t like what they’re doing. They work, but when you work it’s a chore and it’s not fun. So, only a quarter of

people actually enjoy what they’re doing in life. When you have a goal and you’re putting in the work and time to achieve your goal, then you can change your vision into reality.

You’ve got to have a purpose in life, no matter what you do. Muhammed Ali was asked by a reporter once, “How many sit-ups do you do?” Ali replied, “I don’t start counting until it hurts”. That is a big example of working hard. You can’t get around the hard work, it doesn’t matter who you are. Hard work defines your character; your character defines who you are and what or where you will be in the next few years.

Imagine if you read one hour a day; how much you would learn after 365 hours in one year? Imagine if you do anything productive for even just an hour a day, anything you like; how much would you get to learn? The answer to all these questions is quite simple, and you already know them. But this is a reminder that time doesn’t stop for anyone and it sure will not stop for you either. But if you put in that work daily and literally work your butt off, you will surely see a change in your lifestyle.

It is important to understand that we function better if there is no safety net. People don’t know it but they perform better when there is no safety net. You’ve got to push yourself harder, step out of your comfort zone and explore the infinitepossibilities. Don’t be afraid of failing, because there’s nothing wrong with failing. There isn’t a single person out there who has made it big without failing. Failing is a part of your learning process, you should learn to embrace your failure and learn from it. You have to fail in order to climb that ladder of success.

When Michael Jordan was told in one of his interviews, “You’re the greatest basketball player of all time”, Jordan replied, “You’re just mentioning the success, but for me to become the greatest basketball player; I missed 9000 shots when I was playing basketball in the NBA games”. During his games he missed 9000 shots but does that make him a failure? Rather, the great Michael Jordan stands to be the G.O.A.T and will always be considered to be a legend in the sports industry. We all fail, and it’s okay. But what’s not okay is when you fail and you stay down. Winners will fail and get up. Fail and get up. That is a winner.

Don’t be worried about losing, when you’re afraid of losing then your mind and body become frozen. You get stiff, you’ve got to relax. In order to perform well in anything, you’ve got to relax. So relax, it’s okay to fail. Just go all out and give it everything you got!!!

Even if you weren’t productive during this pandemic, you’ve got to remember always, that it’s never too late to work towards your goal. Time is of the essence and it will always be a crucial factor in your life. Take some time off, think about what you really want to do, and plan your routine accordingly.
