Why I Love Winter and You Should Too

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Muhlenberg chapter.

I share the unpopular opinion that the winter season is great. Most people would disagree with me, but truthfully, winter is highly underrated. There’s so much to do and look forward to during the colder months. Even if summer is your favorite season, hopefully I’ll convince you that winter isn’t so bad.

Perks that come with the winter season include:

  • Layering all your favorite sweaters and jackets make for the perfect outfit.

  • It’s time for all accessories you’ve been waiting to wear all year, like scarves and hats.

  • The smell of bonfires or fireplaces. Enough said.

  • Ice skating is arguably one of the most fun activities.

  • Heated blankets are only acceptable in the colder months. Take advantage of it.

  • It’s not frowned down upon to wear sweatpants in public.

  • All the comfort food you could ever want and more.

  • Fuzzy socks.

  • You don’t have to worry about shaving your legs twice a week.

  • Fresh snow is stunning. It makes for a good picture and is also prime time for sledding.

Winter is truly the most magical time of the year. Although the nights are longer and the days can be chilly, there is so much to do that will make the season fly by. The vibes during the winter season are one of a kind, and that’s not something to take for granted. With one month left of winter, enjoy it while it’s here because before you know it, you’ll be sitting by the pool in your bathing suit taking in the sun.
