More Than Clothes: Finding Your Fall Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Muhlenberg chapter.

Fall is here! Finally, an excuse to wear all those clothes you’ve kept tucked away. Some of my favorites are:

·         big baggy sweaters

·         jeans

·         leggings

·         boots (with socks underneath)

·         dark nail polish

·          beanies, scarves, and gloves

·         And-yes-a pumpkin spice latte is an accessory.

Autumn is a great season because you do not have to dress for the dreaded freezing cold weather yet, all you need is a light jacket. This is the time when people usually bring out their statement leather or jean jackets.  Your jacket can become the statement piece of your outfit. You put that on, and feel good to go.

Autumn is my favorite season. I love the foods, the smells, the weather, the leaves, and also my style. Every time fall hits, I have a different phase. Freshman year, it was a blonde-goth-Wednesday Addams look. I literally wore a plaid dress, high socks, dark make up, and black boots.

Sophomore year, I was back to a brunette and looking like I belonged in the 90’s. I specifically wore light blue jeans (usually high-waited), a bright red or purple belt, and vintage sweaters without the black make-up.

I don’t know about anyone else, but the transition from summer to fall is dreadful for me. I never know what to wear and really just want to be comfortable this month and not sweating every minute I walk outside. By September, I am so over summer and want a change in my wardrobe. Therefore, once that crisp cool air hits me, I’m more than ready to start my fall wardrobe. Fall can give you a chance to try out new styles. Don’t be afraid to take risks!

This year, as a junior, I am still figuring out my autumn vibe. Stay tuned….

My name is Alison and I currently go to Muhlenberg College. I study Theatre but also have an eye for fashion. My style is a huge part of who I am. I not only express myself on stage, but express myself with the my wardrobe. Owning your own style and vibe is important. Writing for HerCampus is also a privilege for me because now I can write about fashion, give advice, and encourage my readers to own who they are with the clothes they wear. I also keep people updated on my outfits and what i wear that gets me through college! I encourage people to follow me on my instgram almaybaum_ and my Visco!
