TW: Sexual assault
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know the famous House of Cards actor, Kevin Spacey.
On October 29, 2017, statements by multiple men have been released that accuse Spacey of sexual harassment, assault, groping, and attempted rape. Specifically, an actor named Anthony Rapp came forward and claimed that Spacey “pushed him on a bed and climbed on top of him during a party.”
According to USA Today, a new Buzzfeed report was published following Anthony Rapp’s allegations which states:
“Spacey had a reputation for sexual misconduct on the House of Cards set via interviews with several unnamed crew members.”
Beau Willimon, creator and producer of House of Cards, has since made a statement on Twitter stating that he “neither witnessed nor was aware of any inappropriate behavior on set or off” while working with Kevin.
Yet, many of these members have since then claimed that the show’s higher-up’s were aware of Spacey’s actions. Since the allegations were made, Netflix has made the decision to pull him from his role on House of Cards, therefore cancelling the show after the upcoming season. Due to the current allegations, Spacey’s next film, All the Money in the World, has also been pulled from the American Film Institute’s AFI Fest.
More allegations against Spacey have since come to light. Harry Dreyfuss, son of actor Richard Dreyfuss, has accused Spacey of molesting him in 2008, at the age of eighteen, while his father was in the same room.
He depicts Spacey as a “sexual predator”, who felt “safe” to abuse him, knowing that he “wouldn’t say a word.” Harry Dreyfuss states:
“[Spacey] was an adult man, a hero of mine, my dad’s boss, none of which were categories on my radar for sexual interactions.”
Richard Dreyfuss has since then released a statement showing pride for his son coming forward about this dreadful incident. The incident is currently being investigated by police in London.
