Clark Atlanta University Student Strangled to Death

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Muhlenberg chapter.

On November 8th, the body of Alexis Crawford, a 21-year old college senior at Clark Atlanta University, was found by authorities. Crawford was strangled and smothered to death on October 31st.

Crawford was murdered by her roommate, Jordyn Jones and her roommate’s boyfriend, Barron Brantley. Jones and Crawford were reported to be very close, and Jones often spent holidays at the Crawfords. Crawford made a call to police after being assaulted by Brantley several days before the incident. Jones and Crawford were not on speaking terms as a result, until the 30th, when they went to purchase alcohol. Upon their return, Crawford and Jones got into a physical fight, where Brantley got involved and choked Crawford to death. Jones also confessed to suffocating Crawford with a bag. The couple placed her in a bin and dropped her body in the woods.

The next day, Crawford’s family reported her missing and authorities proceeded to conduct an investigation. During the investigation, Jones claimed to not know anything about her disappearance. A week later, Brantley confessed to killing Crawford. Jones and Brantley were arrested and charged with felony murder. Brantley had three probation violations on top of his felony murder arrest. They will be in court on the 22nd and the 25th of November.

Clark Atlanta University held a candlelight vigil for Alexis on November10th. She is being honored and remembered, and her family is asking for support at this time of grief.
