Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson Split, Call Off Their Engagement

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Muhlenberg chapter.

After four months of dating, singer Ariana Grande and comedian Pete Davidson have, unfortunately, broken up. The two met in 2014, and dated shortly after Grande & former beau Mac Miller called it quits. Having only been dating for a few weeks, they got engaged in June. After this, the couple became a massive trend over social media.

They would consistently show their affection towards each other on their social media platforms. They even got matching tattoos and a pet named Piggy Smallz. In addition, Ariana Grande released a song on her newest album, “Sweetener,” titled “Pete Davidson” which is about, you guessed it, her lover, Pete Davidson.

This past year has been far from easy for Grande, and this breakup is just one of the many stressors in her life at the moment. For the past year, Ariana Grande has had PTSD following the suicide bombing in 2017 that killed 22 people at her Manchester, UK concert.

On top of that, her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who she dated for nearly two years, sadly passed away in September from a drug overdose. After his death, she received a ton of backlash with people placing blame on her that Mac Miller died, and that there was something that she could have done to save him.

With these stressors in her life and the recent breakup, let’s hope that Grande takes this time to heal, ignore the hate that she’s been receiving, and get the help she needs.
