Every February, I hear people complaining about being single on Valentine’s Day. This year… we’re not doing that. Here are ten ideas to help you spend the day by yourself and better than ever.

1. Buy Yourself Flowers

Miley Cyrus says, “I can buy myself flowers,” and you can too. Go to the store and buy yourself flowers or whatever makes you happy. Valentine’s Day is a day for celebrating you.

2. Treat Yourself

Make a Valentine’s Day inspired treat, or go to the store and pick out whatever speaks to you. Trader Joe’s has some great budget-friendly goodies, perfect for celebrating the holiday.

3. Watch a Movie

Whether it’s a cheesy romcom or your favorite movie from childhood, watch something you love. Take time to relax and enjoy your own company.

4. Make Yourself a Valentine or Love Letter

Do you enjoy crafting? Make a valentine for yourself, or write yourself a love letter. Write positive affirmations, future goals, or anything that makes you proud to be you and love yourself.

5. Have a DIY Spa Day

There’s nothing better than relaxing and indulging in some self-care. Do a facemask and paint your nails, or whatever kind of pampering feels right for you.

6. Create a Playlist

In my opinion, making a playlist and dancing around your room is one of the most fun things, Valentine’s Day or not. Make a playlist of all your favorite feel-good songs and listen to them throughout the day.

7. Do a Self-Directed Photoshoot

What better way to show self-love than taking photos while looking and feeling your best? Set up a background and self-timer on your phone or camera if you have one, and click away. Pinterest can be an excellent resource for photo inspo.

8. Have a Nice Dinner

Go to your favorite restaurant, or stay home and cook. Solo dinners are highly underrated; you can enjoy a meal without exhausting your social battery. If you cook your dinner, have fun with it!

9. Take Yourself on a Date

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to take yourself on a date. Go to the museum you’ve been wanting to visit, try out a new local coffee shop, or go for a drive. Spending time alone can be nice, especially when it’s something that you’ve wanted to do for a while.

10. Get Outside

Still stressed about being alone on Valentine’s Day? Get outside. Even if you’re not worried about valentines day, school, or anything, getting outside is proven to be a great way to reduce stress and make us happier. Go on a hike, or listen to the playlist you made while going on a hot girl walk.

Valentine’s Day is what you make it. Whether you want to spend it with yourself or not celebrate it at all is up to you, but I hope you choose to celebrate it and to celebrate you! These ideas are meant to inspire you to create your perfect day, do what makes you feel the best, and remind yourself that you ARE worthy of love.
