The weeks following Spring Break can be rough. The never ending workload, upcoming finals, and rampant spring fever can be tough to overcome. But Never Fear / Music! Some fresh tunes on your playlist are sure to get you through the coming weeks. Check out these new favorites, as well as a few classics!

1. “1 Night” by Mura Masa, Charli XCX

With a peppy beat and Charli XCX’s classic pop vocals, “1 Night” is upbeat and fun. Forget your finals and bop to this beat!

2. “TIny Dancer” by Elton John

Throwing it back all the way to 1971, “Tiny Dancer” is one of those classic songs many students grew up hearing because it was a favorite of their parents. But that doesn’t mean that the smooth vocals and jazzy piano tunes of Elton John can’t be a college classic as well!

3. “Kill The Lights” by Alex Newall, Jess Glynne, DJ Cassidy, Nile Rodgers

This song is a real mood booster! With a peppy, electro beat and Jess Glynne’s amazing vocals, this song always makes me want dance. So if you’re planning a study break dance party, this should be at the top of your playlist

4. “Jack and Diane” by John Mellencamp

An 80’s American classic, this song just screams summer. It’s narrative lyrics conjure up images of teenagers being young and free, the perfect tune to daydream about the coming summer break.

5. “Low” by Trace

A relative newcomer on the music scene, Trace separates herself with unique, smoky vocals. Layered on top of an electronic feeling beat, this song is chill but by no means boring. Her voice and sulky lyrics give me the chills everytime!

6. “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac

Another oldie! Released in 1975, Landslide has that classic soft, folky sound of Fleetwood Mac. The beautiful vocals and nostalgic lyrics are perfect for the easy living and good vibes of warm spring weather

7. “Real Peach” by Henry Jamison

This indie jam is pretty chill and Henry Jamison’s smooth voice makes for easy listening. Perfect for taking a walk around campus or just soaking up the sun on the green.

8. “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire

Total 1990s throwback right here! The upbeat tempo and shrill, sing-along worthy lyrics make me want to get up and dance. This song isn’t just a spring jam honesty, it’s a year round jam!

9. “Good Girls” by LAN

I’m not really sure how to pronounce the name of this artist (is it an acronym? A word?), but I do know that this is a really nice song! Its upbeat but still chill, and sweet without being boring. And there’s a rose on the cover art! What could be more spring!

10. “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles

This one is pretty self-explanatory. After a long, LONG, New England winter, the sun has finally rejoined us and the snow has finally disappeared. Here comes the sun, Mount Holyoke! Enjoy the spring weather!

With the weather warming up and summer in the air, the last few weeks of the spring semester can be tough, not to mention the unbearable workload and finals around the corner. These new releases and old favorites are sure to get you pumped up to get through the coming weeks!
