The leaves are turning yellow and welcoming the arrival of the fall. New season, new lipstick colors. Whether you still enjoy the company of a berry shade, or you are pondering about being adventurous with new shades, these budget-friendly lipstick colors will not fail you.

    1. Colourpop Lux Lipstick in Foolish – available at www.colourpop.com $7

Last year, we witnessed the empire of burnt orange lip shade in the fall season. This year, my  heart still aches whenever I see this lipstick shade. According to Colourpop’s description, Foolish is a deepened orange shade. On my lips, it is a warm terracotta mixed with a hint of muted red tone. And yes, it matches the color of pumpkin. This shade is universally flattering. But personally, I think it will look gorgeous on tan skin, or on olive skin with slight yellow undertone. The pigmentation is phenomenal – a single swipe gives full coverage and is as smooth as butter, although having a semi-matte finish. Putting too much lip balm before applying this lipstick can make the application too slippery, so be wary of that. The staying power is quite impressive; it stays on me for four hours, and then fades into a nice candy corn tint. It is an almost exact dupe of Lime Crime Velvetines in Pumpkin and Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in Gingerbread. Both shades are redder than Foolish.

  2. NYX Lip Lingerie in Exotic – available at www.nyxcosmetics.com $7

Don’t worry if you girls with cool undertone have not found your perfect fall shade, because I’ve got you covered. NYX Lip Lingerie in Exotic is a unique, muted pink shade, with a hint of mauve can be seen in different lights. Pairing this lipstick shade with a baby pink flush on your cheeks (I would recommend Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink) can help you mimic a perfect “I have just walked in the cool crisp air” look. Although being a liquid lipstick, the pigmentation is not fully opaque. One swipe can help your lips achieve that rosebud effect. You can layer to make the color richer. This lipstick can settle in the inner part of your lips fast (If you want a gradient lip effect, then you won’t mind), so you need to blend this color quickly before it dries. It is an exact dupe of Lime Crime Velvetines in Riot. It is also similar to Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini , but that one has more red and brown pigment than Exotic.

  3. Revlon Lip Balm Stain in Crush – available at www.ulta.com $9.49

Your fall makeup bag will not complete without a berry color. How about saying goodbye to your go-to matte berry vampy look, and swapping it for a sheer berry fresh look? This pencil balm brings back so much nostalgia for me, since it has been around for many years (Side note: I really love the name Crush) The shade is a deepened ruby hue, but it does not look too dark and leaves a crimson stain on your inner lips after four hours. It feels moisturizing on the lips, but does not have a glossy finish. A light coat of mascara and a mauve cream blush on the apples of your cheeks will complete your “subtle pop on the pout” look.

 4. Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Mattes Nudes in Raw Chocolate – available at www.maybelline.com $7.49

We have already had covered pink, orange, and berry. Now, our nude is on its way. Nudes are much more wearable now, especially since the 90s deeper nude brown has come back. Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Mattes in Raw Chocolate is a medium mocha color that would look gorgeously grungy on light to medium warm skin tone. On darker complexions, the color turns into a natural nude shade. The greatest thing about this color is that it will never wash you out, even if you rock it with a bare face. The formula glides on creamily, and later feels comfortable on my lips, staying on velvety. Even with two coats, my lips do not feel the heaviness. It will smear if you drink, but does not fade entirely. A flick of thin cat eyeliner, effortlessly messy hair and a tan tartan scarf will breathe back that 90s vibe to your fall look.
