The Sisterhood of the Traveling Purse, Part 4

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mt Holyoke chapter.

WHAT’S IN MY BAG

Today was my day to carry the MZ Wallace bag that we will be giving away at the end of this week. Here’s the thing, though: I don’t usually wear glamorous outfits and I generally stick with casual v-necks and jeans. So, instead of doing an Outfit of the Day, I have decided to do a What’s in My Bag post. Here’s the other thing: I don’t usually carry a bag because I normally just have my wallet. But, after carrying this bag around, I realized how big it is and that it can hold just about anything you want in it. Here’s what’s in my bag.

Tool Kit

A mini tool kit is surprisingly small enough to fit in this bag, which is more spacious than it looks. Tool kits are useful for many things like tightening screws, fixing your bed posts, or even hammering in a nail into the wall to hang a picture frame! Tool kits also come with a measuring tape, which comes in handy all the time.

First Aid Kit

This is always super important to have with you and will fit comfortably in the bag (even with the tool kit). This kit always has the essentials, including band-aids, antibiotics, an ice pack, and special tweezers. You never know when there will be an emergency, and if it’s not major you can use the supplies in this kit to take care of an injury temporarily before deciding if you need to go to the Health Center. If it is a major injury, however, you may just want to stick with MERT or the Health Center.

Sewing Kit

A sewing kit is definitely a must because you never know when you’re going to need to patch up a hole! This thin little kit is perfect for a collegiette on the go. Another thing you can put in the kit is a Tide® To Go stick. Even though it doesn’t come with the kit, you’ll definitely be able to fit it in there and it’s another must because stains are inevitable. To prevent stains, you can use this to hold you until you can get your clothes into a washing machine.

To-Go Container

Another necessity! Sometimes the little to-go trays in the dining halls aren’t big enough to carry an entire meal and before you know it, you have six containers wrapped up and you have to struggle to carry them. Instead, you should go with a to-go container so you can hold more food and have a more secure lid!

HDMI Cable

You never know when you need to connect your laptop to a television these days. Nearly everything uses technology that is connected with wires. Some things can be connected wirelessly like a laptop to a printer, but you still need an HDMI cable to connect a computer to a TV. With the HDMI cable, you can connect your laptop at any time and you can be go from watching something on the small screen to watching it on the big screen!

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is always, always, always important because you never know when you need to protect yourself from germs! You can (and should!) use it before and after you eat, after you pet a dog, after you touch the ground, or after contact with someone with the bubonic plague. Carry this around with you all the time. You can even get scented hand sanitizer so your hands smell fresh and clean all the time.

Vera Bradley All In One Wristlet

This is an item I have with me all the time because it holds my ID, credit cards, cash, change, and even my phone. It’s perfect for parties and other events where you don’t want to carry a bag. You can also still keep it in your bag or attached to your wrist, freeing up your hands. These wristlets come in all different colors and designs.

The 5th Wave

I love to read and my current read is The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. The 5th Wave features Cassie Sullivan on a quest to find her missing younger brother. This fast paced, young adult novel is about an alien attack, and every chapter keeps you on your toes. Yancey paints vivid images of the last bits of humanity. This is a highly recommended book, especially if you like sci-fi thrillers. A movie adaptation with Chloe Grace Moretz as the lead will be released in early 2016.

So that’s what’s in my bag! It’s amazing how roomy it is. This bag is sleek, stylish, and is a must have for any outfit. Share what’s in your bag in the comments section below and stay tuned for information on how to win this expensive and fashionable bag. Look out for who on the Her Campus team is next to have the bag!
