9 Holiday Gift Ideas for Every Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mt Holyoke chapter.

Happy Holidays, everyone! The season of giving is upon us! If you’re anything like me, it can be pretty tricky figuring out what to get for all of your loved ones. Not only that, sometimes it can be difficult to find certain items you may want for an affordable price. (College already isn’t cheap, and you don’t want to break the bank on gifts!) So, here’s a little bit of gift-inspo! And, as an added touch, all items listed here are from small, independent shops on Etsy, so you can shop guilt-free if you’re not a fan of supporting big businesses. Here are 9 Holiday Gift Ideas for Every Budget:

1. Washi Tape

Perfect for people who love crafting, scrapbooking, or bullet journaling! Washi tape is a thin tape that is easily removable and doesn’t damage walls or paper. If you get the right type, you can even hang posters with it! It also comes in a assortment of fun colors and designs. Check out this cute, cheap rose-patterned Washi Tape from Accessories Supplies for $1.50!

2. Jewelry

That’s right, buying jewelry for someone doesn’t have to break the bank! It just all depends on where you look. If you have a friend who loves both jewelry and Pokemon, you could get them a Pokemon Go Team Necklace from Vavercraft for $0.65. They will wear that necklace with pride when they take over the Pokemon Gym on campus!

3. Buttons

You’ll probably be able to tell if someone loves buttons by their collection. The nice thing about buttons is that they are an inexpensive way to express yourself. You can get buttons that say everything under the sun. Help your friend smash the patriarchy while wearing this adorable Smash the Patriarchy Sloth Button from Riotcakes for $1.63.

4. Hair Accessories

Perfect for people who like to add an extra touch of pazazz to their outfits. A super cute example would be the Grey Rosette Headband from Boutique De Bandeaux for $25.The cute satin flowers are absolutely perfect to wear around the holidays or any other time of the year. The headband is specifically made for people with natural, curly hair, so you won’t have to worry about any slippage or discomfort while wearing it!

5. Paintings or Prints

Is there an art-lover in your family? Get them an adorable, unique piece to display. It’s also perfect for those who want to spruce up their dorm-room decor but are bored of regular posters. Looking for something really cute? Get them this Floating Hearts print from Shadrieka for only $20!

6. T-Shirts

Tees are a perfect, easy gift to get people. You can get t-shirts with anything on on them, from cute pictures, to funny sayings, to political statements. As long as you know what the recipient is interested in, you can find them a t-shirt. If you’re planning on getting a t-shirt for an activist in your life, get them a Black Lives Matter shirt from ThreeLittleBirdsTees for $19.95, a black-owned Etsy shop!

7. Bath Bombs

Who doesn’t like to pamper themselves every now and then? Whether you’re gifting these to another stressed out college student or a perpetually busy family member, a bath bomb set could prompt them to take a little bit of me-time to unwind. Check out this 11 Pack Bath Bomb Set from Lizush for $28. They’re vegan and non-GMO!

8. Stuffed Animals

They are great for younger family members or the big “kids” in your life. In the cold winter weather, it’s always good to have a fuzzy cuddle buddy. Cool Critters from CoolCritters, sold for $26, are adorable stuffed animals to add to any collection! You can even get your own customized one!

9. Backpack

Sure, the last thing you want to think about while enjoying the holidays is next semester, but the holidays are a great time to gift someone a new backpack! (Especially if theirs fell apart this semester.) Get a cute, Upcycled Backpack from Badimyon for $85!

Hopefully these gift ideas have inspired you to pick out the perfect gifts for friends and family while you shop this holiday season. But no matter what you may get for people, the most important part of the holidays is spending time with the people you love. Happy Holidays!
