As leaves begin to change from green to red and pumpkins begin to appear on door steps, you know that fall is approaching. Fall festivities may look a bit different this year with everything going on, but that does not mean that you can’t have a great time. Keep reading if you would like some tips on making the most of Thanksgiving this year.

1.Keep things small

In previous years, opening your home to anyone you wanted was seen as nice, but this year things will have to look a little different. It’s important to keep your gathering small so everyone can safely social distance. If the weather allows, have Thanksgiving dinner outside. If you are not able to eat outside, make sure to keep the windows open so fresh air can get in the house and have hand sanitizer and mask stations ready for guests.

 2. Be creative

Have online gatherings or distanced gatherings. We can still have the human connection that we long for and crave while being safe. If you have friends or family members that live nearby you could do a food drop (zero contact, of course) and enjoy the tasty meals through a video call. Or you can order DoorDash or whatever food delivery services you enjoy and order the same meal so it feels like you are sharing.

3. Practice self care

The holiday season is a very stressful time but it can be even more stressful knowing that you may not be able to spend it with family or friends. In times like this, it’s important to take care of yourself. Set time aside to do whatever it is that you love. Make a list of things that you are thankful for. Write a gratitude letter to family and friends.

4. Netflix party

Who doesn’t love a great Netflix movie? Netflix has tons of great holiday movies that I’m sure you, your family and friends will love. Pick a movie, grab some popcorn, and watch a movie together.

At the heart of Thanksgiving, it is about remembering the things we have to be grateful for and enjoying the company of our loved ones. I hope this article helped you figure out how to enjoy Thanksgiving and stay safe.
