I don’t know if it’s in the air around me, or if its the molecules acting senselessly in my brain, trying to make me go insane —  but my dreams have been so vivid lately and I wake up wondering… Have you ever awoken from a dream and questioned if it had a deeper meaning? Well, studies show that it most likely it does! I invite you to try and find that meaning of each dream, put the puzzle pieces together, and face that dream head-on, in real life.

The Bear: In any situation, if a bear is chasing you, you run away. This dream concludes you are running away from something out of fear or avoiding a big issue in your life. Maybe it is time to deal with that fear or issue so that real-life problems are not interrupting your daily activity and mood.

Sharks Appearing

See a shark in your dream indicates feelings of anger, hostility, fierceness, and ruthlessness. This can mean that you or someone else is going through an extremely emotional period and can be a threat to people’s well beings. Alternatively, a shark represents a person in your life who is greedy and unscrupulous. Bringing that toxic energy into your life is unhealthy, so maybe your dream is politely asking you to cut that person out of your life or find a way to express how you feel

Teeth Falling Out

All the years brushing your teeth, flossing, and seeing your dentist yearly, won’t stop the vivid dreams of your pearly whites rotting and falling out. This dream indicates insecurity, anxiety, concerns about either a change in your life or the change you want to happen with self-worth and confidence issues.

The Dreamer Not Able to Run/Speak

These dreams are often accompanied by feelings of embarrassment and shame, not wanting to speak out about something, and wanting to run away from situations. However, it’s not possible to run from your problems, whether it’s in a dream state or in reality. Overall, the dream could indicate that there is a lot of pent up anxiety when realizing we can’t run away from life. In this case, we must stand still, feel the pain or struggle, go through it, and then ultimately move past it.

Significant Other Cheating

He or she isn’t cheating, but it can mean that you’re so insanely happy, content, and in love which is causing those nightmares. The extreme happiness seems so unlikely and impossible that even in your sleep, your waiting for the next shoe to drop. Another explanation could be because of potential past events such as being cheated on before. Essentially,  your dreams are bringing back those insecurities and conflicting your happiness. But don’t let that dream affect your relationship, talk to your significant other and express the concerns, the past issues that may be re-inviting into your mind, and go on with your day.

If problems arise in your dreams, most likely they will arise during the day and affect every decision you make and the attitude you have towards others. Therefore, in order to conquer these dreams or nightmares we must know the reasoning for them, the meaning, and then face the problem head-on.

Hi. My name is Erin Kristen McConville and I am a Junior, Fashion major and Business minor, here at Montclair State University. I enjoy doing many different activities, mostly I enjoy being active, including yoga and hiking, being adventurous with the people I love, and writing/ blogging. Writing is a huge part of my life. When I am sad, happy, anxious or annoyed, I write. Writing is my safe space and my getaway, I take my emotions and put them on paper or on my laptop and suddenly the world is okay again. I also enjoy spending time with my friends, family and dogs even if it means just sitting by the fireplace in South Jersey and watching a good movie. I love being creative; scrapbooking, wedding planning and designing my own clothing and accessories. Some of my inspirations are Demi Lovato and Christina Aguilera in the music industry, Sarah Jessica Parker and Julia Roberts in the movie and fashion industry. Sex & The City was a huge influence on my passion for fashion and also the start of my writing career. I am eager to explore deeper into this beautiful life and adventure into the many opportunities that are placed upon me.
