Spring Break is finally here! It’s pretty common in college to go away during spring break with either friends or family. I’ll be going back to my home, which should make for a pretty peaceful and relaxing week. However, if you’re like me and have no other plans over spring break, you might be wondering how you’re going to stay entertained throughout the break. I put together a list of ways to keep yourself busy throughout the break:

  1. Spend Time with your Family/Friends

This is pretty much an obvious suggestion, but after the first half of the semester being extremely busy at school, I’m so excited to be able to just hangout with my friends and family. Personally, I love a good movie night with my family, or even my friends. Whenever I’m home, my mom, sister and I always pick out a movie to watch basically everynight of the week and it’s one of my favorite things to do.

  1. Catch Up on Assignments

Okay, no one really wants to do work over spring break. But, if you’re falling behind on assignments or even want to get ahead on your assignments, this is a great time to do so without being under other stress. Personally, I have two papers to write this spring break, and I’m planning to portion it out throughout the week so I’m not stressing the night before it’s due.

  1. Spend some time outside

Unfortunately, New Jersey in the first week of March doesn’t usually have the nicest weather. However, you can always layer up and go outside for a hike or even just a walk. This is one of my favorite ways to past time while I’m at home, and sometimes I’m aimlessly walking around for hours. The best part about this one too is that it’s a form of physical exercise as well!

  1. Learn a new recipe

If you don’t have a dining plan at school and need to cook for yourself, spring break is the best time to learn a few new recipes. TikTok has countless recipes, some being really simple meals and others not so much. If you’re not a fan of TikTok, you can find a new recipe on TV, online, a cookbook or even ask someone in your family for one of their favorite recipes!

  1. Rest & Recharge

One of the most important parts of spring break is in the title, a break. Use this time to do anything that helps relax and recharge you. This can include getting a lot of sleep, reading a book, relaxing while watching a movie, etc. Many college students don’t get the sleep they need, so use this time to catch up on any lacking hours of sleep and your future self will thank you.

So, don’t feel bad about yourself if you’re not traveling to Florida or a tropical island during this spring break. There are a lot of ways to keep yourself entertained, and honestly, if you do absolutely nothing all spring break, no one will ever know! I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing and healthy break.
