Something I decided to commit to in 2019 was dedicating a word to my year. Before the 2019 year even began I decided what was going to define my year.

By mid March, our resolutions we set in the beginning of the year always fall through and are so hard to commit to and I think I finally figured out why. Going into the new year I thought really hard about who I want to be rather than what I want to do. After long hours of thinking, I decided in 2019 I want to be unstoppable.

At the end of 2018 my life was completely flipped upside down and immediately you go into fight or flight. When you choose to fight you have to be 100% ready for battle.

Unstoppable is defined as incapable of being stopped, with powerful examples of the word in phrases like “an unstoppable army” and “an unstoppable rise to power.”

Choosing a word to define your entire year before it even happens can seem overwhelming or too strong of a commitment, but the beauty of a word is it can be used in different context, it’s never definite. How you feel and act now could easily not be who or what you are by December. However, your word can grow with you.

I chose my word because of the mindset I was in towards the end of 2018. I needed something to keep me accountable for my thoughts and encourage me to fight through anything I was told and any odds put against me. Now, nearly two months in, whenever I feel down or like I can’t keep moving forward, I tell myself that this year I am unstoppable.

As I already completed January, phase one of this long journey, I feel empowered. Every day I have been able to tell myself that nothing could stop me. I would be the only one who could do that by not believing in my own word, my resolution if you will.

It may no longer be the new year but it is never too late to decide who you want to be. I recommend choosing a yearly word to everyone. It’s the easiest way to know you’ll have a great year, since you’re the one deciding how it is going to impact your life before it occurs. Something I look forward to next year- building another word on top of my strong foundation.

I hope you are unstoppable.
